Thinking of moving to Hib from Alb

I am thinking of doing this move as I am getting a bit bored with Alb and find the specialisation of the classes frustrating. Plus:

- Albion is too much like England and I want a realm with more of a "fantasy element". I know the real town of Ludlow. I play Pryd/Mid and like the very different look its places and population have.
- I like playing healers (have a shaman on Pyd/Mid) but dislike the cleric - sorry its being a member of the church
- Tried a paladin but huge pressure to go shield, and again church based. Also to use a 2H weapon still need 1h weapon skill (blades) to stop damage variance
- Got a scout but not group friendly because of low melee, I die a lot, shield base 5% plus 0.5 per skill point.
- Few low level groups or guilds and a lot of powerlevelling

I want classes that can solo and be group friendly.

I'm hoping that Hib could hold my attention and from my research (including a walk around Hib Camlann) I have these ideas:

- a ranger. I like missile classes and will choose either a Lur (dex and qui) or an Elf (for the look). Like idea of path and CD. Its just facing fletching consignments again!!!
- Elf champion with LW and Valor
- Firbolg Druid - healing and buff. This character will mainly group and from being a Shaman I know how popular that is. No problems grouping with people many levels above my own. In fact put group flag on and be instantly popular.

So any views appreciated.

Also are there many low level characters on Hib or people mainly 30 plus? That is will I have anyone to play with.

Thanks in advance for your efforts and time in replying.

-i like druids!

getting a group at low lvls as a healer isnt hard
hib isnt underpopulated, mid/alb are just overpopulated :)

oh and don't be suprised when people ask you to heal their pet :p

You don't like clerics because they're in the "church"...

Are you one of those mad/crazed athiest peeps? :p it doesn't even have anything to do with any religion either...

other than that, the choice is yours about what class you wanna play. It's all about what style you enjoy best. Long range melee, short range melee, long range casted damage, short range casted damage, healing, protecting, etc etc. Imo go luri ranger if you enjoy archer classes.

If youre going with druid i would recommend specing in nature up to level 20 as the dot + pet really rocks for soloing, which i believe is what you will have to do anyway at that level :)

Then at level 20 just respec to a group spec(some combination of regrowth and nurture) so you can get groups ;)

Blademaster or drood are for you i would figure.

dont waste your time with ranger or elf champ imo, ranger may become fotm next patch for a bit, but it will die down fast. as for elf champ its been tried by a few and its not the best choice! try a firby BM if you wish to be slightly different, not masses of those about (only celts).

Rangers for the win, get one to 24 first to give it a try, when you get your first one shot kill from stealth you will love it instantly.

Thanks for all your replies

Thanks all for your replies. Still thinking about the move. Yes I know that an elf ranger is a gimp but its just the look of the Lurikeen. However might make a very short female one as a stealth archer.

Druid looks like a good idea.

Last question are there many low level characters (sub 20) on Hib or are you all level 50 demi gods?

Will I feel lost lonely and new?

Healer classes are good as your first char on a server. Dont need top armor and gets groups easy. With a level 50 you can level or plevel a ranger. Will save you some time.

Well I'm here. Thanks for the replies

Hi,

Moved over yesterday. Gave my stuff away on Albion, deleted all alts and hit the Hib option at next login.

So far got a lvl7 Firb Druid. Nature/nurture at the moment so that I can solo. Love the pet, had one as a cabbie, like the fact it can take conc based buffs.

Will ignore regrowth for a while. As a mend shaman on Mid found that mostly I use the baseline small heal as the big heals attract aggro (big sign saying i'm here please kill me). At least with pet you get your own guard if tanks are busy. Damage add and shield seem more effective than the shamans to but DoTs are much weaker and of course no bolt or DD. Hey you can't have it all ways. Plus Firb strength helps, my Kolbie shaman just "taps" away in melee. Soloing yellows with easy with no down time. 10 pts into str, con, dex, can't wait for dex\qui buff.

Got a level 4 Luri stalker. Don't look so bad in a hooded cloak. Not sure whether to make him a sniper ranger or a Nightshade. Probably a sniper as tried an infiltrator on Alb and never got the hang of chaining dual weapon and CS styles and he was always knackered after a fight (OOE big time). So its fletching consignments again.

May try a Celt champion.

Don't know why but I like hydrid classes. Never got on too well with pure casters or pure melee.

Again thanks all for your time.
