The uberness of backslash?

this goes out to the 1h slash wielders out there

Hi guys, just a question about backslash. Everyone claims that backslash is much better than amy, but i noticed that on armored targets it's damage is sometimes even lower that of amy's. Considering the only benefit of backslash is higher damage, is it really that much better as a positional and why? Or am i missing something?

my spec atm is 48 instr 42slash(i'm a mincer).

Backslash does do very good damage but costs high end... i use only if a pala is grouped with me.

yes but thats the problem, sometimes it hits less than amy

Not with 1743 weaponskill

Well it depends really.... i mean on dual shadows dw style one minute it can hit high sometimes low... not sure why though.

Its the base damage variance that means you hit for less with a superior style.

Highest dmg Slash style I think.

Not many Mincers has it though as its lvl 50 slash

Riposte does most damage iirc, but not everyone can use effectively.

Brutalize followed by 2 to 3 ripostes = little end cost and major damage.............when it can be pulled off...easy in pve though.

Riposte is easy to use and I use it a lot. My quickbar is as follow:

1.sprint
2.amethyst
3.slam
4.riposte
5.befuddler
6.back slash

I always tap first 4 then 2 after, so if riposte fails it does automatically the amethyst style. The damage variance isnt big, if I hit for 160 with amethyst, I do 140-150 damage with riposte or sometimes even more damage than with amethyst. But the endurance it costs is like 3x less than amethyst slash. IMO riposte is the only style you can do if you have tireless I, when you are OOE you get some end to do the riposte style 2-3x in long duration fights

I do backslash in groups for the fun when I got slam in, but I havent seen a big difference in damage with amethyst, sometimes amethyst does even more damage than backslash and the end cost is same...
