The two albs in Thidranki.

I logged in with my hunter Fafne, to get him to huginfell, since you taken the keep. As i was killed by two britons, i saw upon the roof of the keepgate, two Albions, one minstrel and Sniper.

I thought this is like using a wall bug, since no one can hit you up there, and you can just stand up there killin off enemies.

Please stop using theese bugs, as i read in earlier posts here, this is considerd a bug, and some mids have used it, hibs to, and albs, but it was about a month ago i saw anyone using it.

I call the two of you cheats. Sorry i died so i could't get your names.

Getting onto the roof of a middy keep is just pressing your jump button 2x thats all.

It's <NOT> at cheat, mids showed it to Kemor and he said it was ok. and you can easily shoot anyone there or you can get on your self easily.

Well, firstly i had to go to Huginfell to trade some gear over to my warrior, and my other char was futher away so i logged fafne in to die....


Yeah its really easy to kill them, not. You cant see you target, he pops up mezz, you cant see your target. But if you need to utilize bugs like this well its up to you, but i still call it cheating.

About this roof thingy, i have stod on the roof plenty of time, and i have beein hit by that spell you have, supressed vision or something like that, and also died many times up there, so dont say you cant hit someone up there!!!

It is alot easyer to fire down from the roof as you can stand behind the ridge then move forward cast/fire then step back and you do not have to re jump up like being on the battlement tops..

Well following the recent encounters I have had with albs I have to say most are chickens

There are some Brave albs which i salute and some suicidal Assassins which are great fun

But the general bravery level of most of the albs i have ment especially in the 3 BG's is non existant.

You out leveled and numbered us last night while i was there and once we pushed you back from our PK we drove you back to the centre keep with less numbers and shear bravery and bloodymindedness Charging walls of mages. You then stayed IN the keep while a few brave ones (mainly assassins) came out.

Even after a nasty guards pop that dented our forces badly you stayed holed up in your keep like cowards.. at one stage i could see 5 people on the roof.

The Hibs only run when outnumbered and even then only sometimes /salute hibs

But an alb group out of its PK 9 times out of 10 you can rout with far less forces charging them...

Kerram, your very same words were spoken of your ilk in my days in Thidranki. For many days Midgard fled time and time again. Now, it is different. I no longer venture there, nor to the lands you stalk, and I have seen quite a few of Midgard retreat to their keep in Murd.

Ok. On the roof over the gate thing. Well. I have seen people get up onto some rooves legit. Now, I haven't got characters able to view all the BG's, and as yet have not tested these keeps.

However, if they can get up there legit, then it is not, I repeat, NOT cheating. I don't care if you or I cannot see them, use the pets-through-walls to get them then (which is not really seen as a bug either).

It's tactical position. If you want true game mechanics, then you'd need 100% LOS. Archers not shooting gate-bashers. No pets (except Spiritmaster ghosties) through walls. Keep takes would be way faster.

PBOE (or whatever it's called) should damage keep doors...i.e. defenders can't just keep zapping people through the doors without damaging their own doors or being blocked by the doors. You would not be allowed to hit people through the doors, etc. etc.

Lots of things that are against the laws of physics. Hell, just wait till they start building trebuchets up there...

I have never seen Mids run from less numbers of enemy while i have been around.

I have Characters in all 3 BG's and apart from the top two being empty 90% of the time i go there. same seems true in all 3.

Stealthers are not scared but alb mages are the flightiest creatures around (they must not like getting blood on thier dress's )

I am sorry to say it is an alb trait, even hear albs say it.

The mids are a tad over brave , charging walls of keeps lined with enemy etc etc when pulling back a distance to get a land fight going again (well if the albs came out to play)

not all albs are like it just when they are in groups of over 5 then they turn into flocks of birds running away from the enemy..

I assume there are flighty mids just not seen any.

Actually. In my time there, many times the order was given to retreat to the central keep from your PK, so that you could/would at least come out. Times change I guess.

Teador, i've been lookin at right now and have not seen any posts about that its legal to hit enemies from the roof, nor here on barryworld.

And i did some exploring after 17 mids took the keep last nite, only two defenders. I found a good spot to jump up on the roof, pretty easy when you know where to go. But when up there i saw i just have to sit down to get out of line of sight. So i can do alot of more damage from up there than on the battlements, easier to get a target without being spotted.

And if Kemor said its ok, perhaps we can see a post on our european Daoc site, that states this. Then no one can call another a cheat, but i think its just lame to use this spot for killing of enemies.

I personally am disappointed with the guard hugging of some realms in thidranki. Particularly when you can see large numbers of the opposition walk onto the bridges then run back to the keep to try and draw you onto the guards.

Whilst I personally think its a bit of a pussy way to play, I can understand anyone saying its a valid tactic. It is after all using in game npcs for what they are there for - protection.

Albions in my experience tend to be the more aggressive of the realms that I have faced. Last week we ended up fighting a running battle with various groups of albion for an hour until we were bounced from behind by a group of mids, caught between the two sides we went down fighting. Khendon in particular fell before us at least 2-3 times, but to his credit he returned with more and albs and refused to let us wander around unmolested so a /salute to him definitely

All of us were in a chat group saying how much fun it was - I would hope that the opponents that I have faced in Thidranki level at the same pace as I and we can continue our skirmishes in the battlegrounds. Facing relatively even con enemies really has given me respect for the classes of Hibernia. On paper or from bulletin boards we appear to get the short end of the stick with abilities etc, but in practice our classes seem to hold their own against the other realms. If only we could fight them on 2/3 their numbers instead of 1/2- I think then we would see a great deal of difference in RVR as a whole and not just in specific arenas.

Thanks for all the fun folks lvl 24.5 so I think I might hit thidranki tonight and try and max my rps out for that bg before I level to 25

Then you have been lucky in finding albs with guts, they are out there but have not seen many.

If we go out of the keep to alb bridge and they are twice our number and we charge we can run them down to their pk, if they are trice our number they usually charge, and kill thoose standing there. Resulting in a guard pull, and we can go in for the kill.

Never seen albs engage in combat evenly matched.

Little reminder about cheating and exploiting bugs:

Seeing the shouting on the public forums, it seems that a little reminder about GOA's politic on cheating and bug exploits is needed. You can already find everything in our Code of Conduct and EULA, we have always been pretty clear on that in the past.
Cheating, and of course cheaters, are NOT tolerated on our servers. We did, are and will take all the actions needed to stop the cheaters. Exploiting bugs (use and abuse of bugs) and the use of Third party tools allowing one to cheat or alter the gameplay of DAoC were, are and will be punished. Nobody likes to play with cheaters.

Rightnow is a customer support tool and a FAQ. Not a list that includes legal gameplay tactics. If rightnow doesn't tell it's legal to kill your enemy by hitting him with a weapon while you're in bathroom, it does not mean it's bug abuse.

Something you see as a bug might actually be a feature that is just annoying you. These things aren't bugs, but you can report it to Right Now in the hopes that the developers might consider that they need to make you happier.

For example in the past stealthers could get past frontier guards to homelands. This in fact wasn't a bug, but a feature which was changed because also developers thought it will just bring more grief play to the game.

To get back to your real issue about ppl shooting you from roofs and where you seem to not have LOS.

Advice 1: Find a position where you can shoot them. As ppl here have told someone has managed to shoot them while they're on the roof. You just need to find that spot.

Advice 2: Who told you to stand where they can see you. If you stay on their LOS long enough you can bet they mez and kill you. So go somewhere where they can't shoot you.

Hmm. The roof debate continues. Well, you pretty much know my view on keep design...

But to recap, here goes:

1) All keep designs SUCK. No warlord in his right mind would build a castle where you cannot target the attackers of the gate from the battlements.... There are no butresses from which defenders can target the gate bashers.

2) NPC archers can shoot you through the wall, absolutely CRAP. Shoot people outside, but once LOS is lost, they should pick new targets.

3) Pets, Guards, spells, attacks, etc. should NOT be allowed to pass through the doors/walls. This is utterly absurb.

4) Fighting from the roof should be allowed and ladders should be provided. The current way of getting onto the roof is using a design flaw. But, since pets, spells, arrows, etc can all hit you there, I don't see being up there as illegal.

A rough front door design, with downward facing "holes" to fire spells and arrows through. Fix the castles and LOS for keeps, they're what's screwed here.

Also, I've seen a few people die on the roof.
