You only have to walk into an average Daily Mail reader's house at breakfast time to find them frothing over the latest scare bullshit headline its decided to come up with

Your average lobotomised builder will believe anything thats printed in the Sun

Be that as it may, it has a very large readership. Let's be honest here, most people who buy The Sun everyday get ALL their news from it.

The Sun has influence over the political opinion of it's readers. Take a look at the headline on Election Day 1992.
If%20Kinnick%20Wins-st.jpg

You could argue that the headline swung the election.

Gordon Brown this morning says "it is people that decide elections" not newspapers."
Well that's true, but a large circulation newspaper DOES influence the views of it's readership, so you could say that newspapers CAN decide elections.

Whichever way you look at it, Labour are pissed.
GOOD! :flame:

That will be a fantastic birthday present for me! "Labour removed from power in landslide victory for Tories"

just look at the landslide voting figures required to win back those lost seats AND get a majority.............

hung parliament is more likely tbh

If you look at the swing, its more than enough for a landslide, assuming everyone votes according to what the polls say.

A swing of 4%-10% from Labour to Conservative gives a hung Parliament.
Anything over 10% is a Conservative majority.

The last few by-elections have seen swings of 12-17% to the Conservatives, so make of that what you will.

If only Vince Cable was a Tory...throughout the economic crisis he was the only person I thought who actually made sense. I also like the Lib Dem's policy of removing everyone earning under £10K a year from tax liabilities. If the Lib Dems and the Tories could get in bed together...

Says a lot about our fair country that the newspaper with the most clout is also the one that appeals to the lowest average IQ.
