Best thing to do if you are serious about quiting is probably to take up a sport, or start at a gym etc. Gives you something to do in the evenings, keeps you away from the computer, and also has a beneficial effect on you.

un-install daoc, if your not playing again u can have that 5gigs or however much it is now (Was like 3.5gigs when i uninstalled czo i had daoc, SI, and ToA and then all the other expansions installed whihc was pointless).

If you have to install again make yourself install every disk and every download etc, u should get bored of the concept after about 20 seconds.

Find something new to do, take up cooking or something that u will enjoy. (Reason i say cooking is most people that <3 daoc spend too much time playing instead of taking care of there bodies)

John Hodge said it best I think;

John Hodge (Trainspotting) said:
Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family.
Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars,
compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good
health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed
interest mortage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your
friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a
three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics.
Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning.
Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing
game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose
rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable
home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up
brats you spawned to replace yourself.

Choose your future.

Choose life.

Take up exercise, eat healthily, give your body a break from laziness; you'll feel great.

Or just go out, get drunk and shag some hot girls.

Create a diabolical plan to take over the world.

Then do it.

That should keep you busy for a while.

<doesnt get why the trainspotting quote was used> The whole point of that speech is the irony of the everyday life, i mean its said motivationally but highlighting the bullshit that everyone lives by and how pointless our goals and aims in life are. Were u trying to point that out or? :S <confused why the quote was used>

Reading these forums was a big reason I came back, if you are deadly serious about quitting the game then you need to avoid the DAoC boards like the plauge. I managed to stay away for 6 months but in the end I was pulled back in more because of nostalgia and friendship than improvments to the game, if you have alot of friends still playing then quitting is almost impossible.

If you are looking for things to do well I spent alot of those 6 months reading, catching up on films I had missed and also dozens of games I had missed in the 4 years of playing DAoC. After that I would say you need to make sure you get out of the house more, it stops temptation to log back on and if you find the right 'hobby' then it becomes alot more fulfilling than DAoC.

Best of luck anyway, in some ways I wish I hadn't come back but I must admit I am enjoying playing again with old mates.

if u need to get away from forum, have a mod perma ban you from it. that will be a first step. next is uninstall daoc and smash all CDs that belong to it. next get rid of all favourites. the only thing you should keep is contact with people through msn or other messenger thing, BUT NOT FORUMS!

- Download and install a radar.
- Log in and spam some racist stuff in /br of your frontier keep.
- Send in a Rightnow explaining how you plan on flying to France to rape the girlfriends/wives/boyfriends/husbands of the GM's

One of these things ... or a combination of them, is bound to get your account terminated ... hey presto .. no more DAoC for you!

Freeshards are the bane of my life

And hmmm, what i Did before daoc.

Well i was about 9 and i went into a internet cafe with Rod...And i sucked at daoc, really badly...spent most of my time making tea. the net cafe closed down I rerolled prydwen, made me some chars and i couldnt stop untill i told mother enver to give me CC ever again even under pain of death. So i went to freeshards.

What did i do without DAoC...Frankly I cannot remember.
