A fairly reliable source has informed me that sales of games have exceeded those of cinema tickets:eek6:

maybe, but look at it this way, your options are:
  • Cinema: watch a film with no plot but rakes of special effects
  • Home: play a game with no plot but rakes of special effects
So, games obviously have better special effects :)

Surely its because of the rise in home video/DVD that causes a decline in cinema tickets, not necessarily because games are selling better.

A what is a "game", I'd be hard-pressed to call FF a "game", its so linear its almost exactly like watching a DVD.

You are purposfully excluding the battle side of it, which makes it a game surely?

The "battle" sequences aren't that much better than selecting clips on a regular DVD menu, so its closer to a DVD movie than you think.
