The psycology of MMRPG's

DAOC is a bit like those tamagochies things. Its all about rewards. They design the game so that playes get rewarded (XP, Items, quest completions, gold etc) for playing the game. Players become obsessed by these rewards and spend more time playing to get more rewards. its almost like a virtual drug.

Just to let you know you are all virtual junkies...

I think you all find the world of DAOC a lot easier to cope with and understand than the real world (espcially all those ALB mofos)

I on the other hand just enjoy whipping all your nub asses in RVR.....

compared to some people, you could be considered a "nub".

this game, unlike alot of other online rps does not rotate around items.
people play it mostly to have fun in rvr, fort takes, and other things.

not really, only had the game for 3 weeks. im at lvl 36 now and that aint bad... (in fact its damn good)

If I played from the start, I would have been one of the first (including MID and Alb) to hit lvl 50. (though this did seem to offend some of the higher members of my guild, sorry team but its true)

If you have been playing since day one and your only lvl 46, you are obviously no stranger to death, and have been having far to much fun and not enough XP....

Unlike you, I dont classify spending 15 mins walking my ass off to die instantly to some purple mofo, fun.....

I was destined for greater things than you obviously....

aiedel what lvl are you now, It was a real tough decision on whether to play a shade or a ranger.....

I think perhaps now, a shade would have been better, but frustrating to lvl... I can still lvl my ranger in 5-6 hours at lvl 35 i think.... taken a break from the game for a day or 2 now though.

I seem to recall your are below 40... if thats the case I would like to go RVR with you some time...

actually i hit 40 yesterday and im fine for rvr, if i cant get groups in PvE then i wont seek one in RvR unless its with people i like grouping with, simple as that (or unless its one of the various "taxi" bards)

ive been playing since mid-january (beta tests when there were 3 2000-ppl servers only), and i am level 40, 23, 8, 5, 5, 11<deleted>, 15<deleted>, some otehr 5's<deleted> and whatever i had in beta

you obviously need more practice, depending how careful i am i can live for as long as i like or i can take a suicide kill

as for the rumors of shades being bad in PvE, they do seirious damage, the sooner people stop thinking they cant do good damage, the sooner we get more groups, the sooner we get higher level and hurt more in rvr

my /played is around 8.5 days.... And that has pretty much been spent soloing solid.... ( I was gifted 100GP and top lvl items when i started though ((thanks to all the peeps who gave me this stuff)))

Most players with 8.5 played are around lvl 20-25....

Anyway I doubt anyone is impressed with this...

I must admit things are starting to get tough....

I am even thinking I may have to start grouping ***cringes***

Nightshade has to be the best RVR class in the game.....

BEST=most fun to play. good to solo with. detect stealth must be handy too.

Well but im not gonna say its impossible to do, but i think ur gonna realize that its not that easy around 40 and up.
Even in an extremely good group exp-meter hardly moves
And I know it because I also lvled very fast until 35ish and now I cant believe how slow it is. (that coming from a bard says a lot)

Of course teaming with two manaspecced elds and pbaoe:ing everything is quite fast, but there arent that many of them out there..

censimilia, first you insult me and then you ask for advice. i thought youd looked at the sites in my sig, try checking daocnation again ffs and as for the other one all the graphics are either done from scratch with PSP or are based upon graphics used in the game in various places (though im sure most people would be hard-put to say exactly where)

hehehe i'm looking back at how "slow" i thought it was soloing at lvl 20-25... then looking at it now.

i can see EXACTLY where it's going

wont be finding me xp'ing without a group anytime after lvl 35 i think... probably sooner.

I have 3 chars and I enjoy the game.. I am working up 2 the whole RvR experience and have been there for a number of realm defences. Soloing is slow and sux big time. I agree with Charonel.

The whole reason I love this game is the chat with other players.. Pulling someone's bacon out of the fire.. killing a really tough whatever... Friendships and community..

Sure I am EXP hungry but mainly because my friends R lvling fast.. and I wanna be more effective in RvR.

IMHO what is the use being a high lvl char with no friends?? Playing online defeats the purpose if U R going to piss people off. Those U stomp on on the way up are the ones going to hold UR gimp leash later on.

I've played my Nightshade for nearly as long as you've played you ranger (I also have 4 other characters I can't decide which classes I like best so they change a fair bit ) and as you can see from my sig. I'm way off your lvl, dammit you missed the good stuff

If you feel like being a anti-group, soloing, twink-started, exp monkey, no one is gonna stop you, but don't expect us to cry "what an achievement you have lvled so fast let your name ring out across the realm"
