If the mods don't mind me posting THIS LINK then you can download via Bittorrent what is an insightful and quite frankly, scary three-part documentary about the neo-conservative movement in America's republican government and how it has lied and created "evil" to smite via a seemingly hapless media.
Great work, but it is something you will regret watching.
It basically said that Al Qaeda was an anti-franchise in that random madmen, fundys would turn up at Bin Lardens get some funding and then go commit an act of terrorism under the Al Qaeda name.
According to the programme even 9/11 was only a bunch of men getting funding from Bin Larden he never trained them and he never planned it.
The programme was a good insight into the big picture, but many people don't even realise they have an agenda - people see the neo-cons as republican conservatives. The thing the programme didn't really cover was "what does that look like". Even if people knew their agenda, since the US is a democracy, they couldn't imagine how they could achieve that agenda.
Well, they have the Project for the New American Century, a social/political influential think-tank, that has helped mould the policies of the US. The link is for their mission statement - have a look down the bottom of the page and see the members. Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfwowitz, Dick Cheney (the corporate crook, wanted for involvement/overseeing several curruption scandals), Jeb Bush...here's one of their defence review reports from 2000.
Now, if you combine that with the fact that prominent oil companies wanted a regime change in Afghanistan in the late 90's (for that pipeline they wanted so much), it all takes on a new light. Also, Halliburton's government contracts were tiny before Cheney became vice president and this War on Terror began - now they're no-bid contracts straight to Halliburton, worth tens of billions.
