the pilot escape mission

Alright, for the people who have gotten this far please discuss how you escaped. I've heard some interesting ways.
My method was a weird one.
After running from the tent I quickly ran and jumped into the enemy BMP, under attack from grenadiers I drove to the Hind and jumped into the gunners seat. Everntually the Hind pilot jumped in and took off. With the Russian flying I didn't get shot at and opened fire on the base. After using up all the ammunition in the Hind I eventually bailed out and legged it back the base. My Russian escort flew off none the wiser.
How did you do it?

Bugger me, I didn't even see a Hind!

I ran out the tent, got in the BMP, drove up the hill and bailed just before the russians blew it up.

I then spent about 20 minutes trying to find the bloody North Star. The mission briefing explains where it is, but it took me ages to figure it out (all those stars look the same).

I just legged it, on 4x speed), until I ran into the friendly.


Of course I'm going to look for that Hind now

You're all chickens

I exited the tent from the left side (bmp is on right). When you run to the nearby hut move to the window and you'll see a ammodump and you can grab a AK or a RPG launcher.

Grab the RPG, then quickly dive out and blow up the bmp (take's half the enemy with it). then rush back and grab ak and down the 2 guys around the far corner. Head back to the bmp area and finish off anyone left alive.

Now be quick for a UAZ appears with more men, but if done fast enough the whole area will be clear. Now run like hell to the back of the helictoper and enter it on it's left side (might have to crawl the last few yards). Get in and fly away

Pah, I've just done it the hard way, read on:

I wove a rope made from the legs of grasshoppers (after catching them of course) then strangled the guard outside the tent with it. I crawled up to the next guard (so he couldn't see me) and shouted out (in russian) "YOUR MOTHER WAS A BETTER LAY THAN YOUR WIFE". He spun around and emptied his AK74 into all the other guys (must have struck a nerve there). He then came to his senses, realised what he'd done, and blew his own head off.

I then walked up to the Hind, offered the pilot a carton of american ciggies to fly me out of there. He replied that he couldn't possibly accept a bribe from such a skilled soldier, and flew me home.

Uhh, I ran out the tent, ran towards the sea, and lay down.

Went for a pee.

Came back, got up, and walked to the mountains.

Jumped in the hind gunner position, proceded to annihilate everything in sight.

Jumped out of gunner position, jumped back in as pilot, flew away

Similar thing here. Legged it to the Hind as pilot and got the f'k out of there. Was pretty hairy for a while, specially hearing the bullets hitting the cockpit.

Can't help feeling I missed a lot in this mission, though. Must try harder.

from about 7 seconds in, run to the hind, take off, fly to the other end of the island and land in the base that you capture (and then defend against counterattack (and had to destroy a shilka in as a black op even earlier)) earlier
