I tend to start with the gimmicky presents (aka filler) while I think of something decent to buy people.

So far I've bought me mam a bonsai tree and something for both me mam & dad - those become a lord and lady deeds from Play.com

They know I rarely take Christmas seriously :p

I just went to try and get Sean Astins book, on his experience of being part of the Lotr production, signed as a gift for my sister at Forbidden Planet (Shaftesbury Avenue) but 150+ queue and me on an extended lunch break = no signing for me. Oh well got to find a new present idea now.

Adults can tell the difference between a spelling mistake and a typo, and hence don't get pedantic about typos. You still have so much to learn young cockroach.

The only problem with having an open mind is it makes it far easier to lose it. Judging by your chat in irc you are well on your way.
