Go go one sided stories...

All operations have risks.

They do in deed, but it was the incomeptence of the operating team that was the problem.

Another friend of mine, his fiance was diagnosed with cancer last december. What did the NHS do? fuck all, just let her die. They didnt even tell her it was terminal, they just said they would be in touch about her treatment. 3 weeks passed and even though my friend and fiances family contacted everyone from the hospital to their GP, they couldnt find out what was happening. Christmas eve she passed away.

So excuse me if I dont think the sun shines out of the NHS's backside.

My mates GF went into hospital with a broken arm and needed an operation.

She died during theater

GG NHS

my mam has had many operations, including but not limited to hand and wrist surgery and the removal of her thyroid.

shes not dead and the complications in both of those are a lot more than that of a broken arm.

NHS is like any service, people will have good or bad experiences and form opinions based on those. Health is obviously an emotive subject and we will never agree on something as simple as whether it is good or bad.

Question for me is, does enough of the National Insurance you pay in your salaries go to the NHS? I'm sure if it did we would have the best health scheme in the world.

Still waiting for an honest government who come forward pre election and say, "ok, for everything we've promised we need another 3p in the pound tax. This is for schools, NHS and Policing. If you give us that we'll fix them" I'd vote for em.

As i said, it wasnt complications, it was gross incompetence. But, I know, its the exception rather than the rule.

Last November I had a sore belly. Had it for a couple of days. Pain was getting worse and worse.
Friend of mine was round and she said enough is enough. Your going to casualty.
For a couple of hours I had doctors and nurses poking, proding and taking blood. I even had one doctor come in and stick his finger up my ass.
Finally a surgeon came in and said looks like your appendix mate. We'll get you up to a ward and get you into surgery.
4 hours later im getting knocked out for keyhole surgery to remove my appendix.
They went in, had a look around, turns out I had a perforated bowel. Serious stuff that, it can kill you. They also found a meter long section of my gut with lumps on it so they hacked that out too.
I cant speak highly enough of the service I received. Hospital staff were all fantastic.

You cant get the service I got from a private hospital. They dont have Accident and Emergency departments. Private hospitals treat the stuff they want to treat. Stuff they can make money from.
Procedures where there is no profit to be made they wont touch. That stuff all gets left to the NHS.

as someone mentioned earlier, watch Moore's new movie "Sicko" and you'll be more than happy that the NHS exists :m00:
