Sorry to double post, but the ghost in Edinburgh is locally known as 'Bloody MacKenzie'.
From some Edinburgh History site
MacKenzie's talents did not go unnoticed by contemporaries and in 1677 he was appointed Lord Advocate. However, unfortunately for the posterity of his reputation, one of his first instructions was to carry out the persecution of the Covenanters ordered by Charles II. MacKenzie went about his task with unusual zeal and rounded up 1200 of the religious dissenters. Prosecutions of the covenanters were usually backed up by evidence obtained under torture, and this fact, coupled with the appalling treatment of the prisoners in Greyfriars Kirkyard, earned MacKenzie his disparaging nickname "bloody".
Too much information?
