Well me and Lou are sat here at home waiting for the police to turn up having discovered both our cars were torched some time last night. They've managed to totally disintegrate his wing mirror and it's very lucky the rest of the car didn't go up in flames. They were less successful with our, leaving just a charred shell still attached to the side of our car.

Walking up the road, it looks like at least two other people had their mirrors torched but they've obviously driven to work so we can't see how bad the damage was to their cars, but you can have a good guess looking at the charred piles of plastic and glass on the ground.

Will post pics later. Lou's in tears. :( Fucking *****.

Bet it's a Labour area :(

I'm surprised stuff like that hasn't started happening here, but most of the crap we get is directed at you whilst you walk in the street.

Pics... http://www.aotp25.dsl.pipex.com/burnt/index.html

Lou went to get a paper and saw several other cars had been torched too. Probably thousands of pounds worth of damage and IF they were able to catch the culprits and IF they got convicted they're barely get community service yet if someone went into a bank and stole thousands, they'd get put away for years. Funny how the world works eh?

I mean, Lou's brother's car has half a tank of petrol and ours has a full tank. If the car had continued to burn in the middle of the night it could well have set fire to our house. Not a pleasant thought.

Kenny, is your street a dead end? Is it worth petitioning the council to block the end to both vehicular and pedestrian access perhaps?

A simple solution if possible, it would deter scrotes from wrecking the cars as they have no reason to walk up there.

the reason then will be to trash the cars!

It's an unadopted road so there's no street lights. It's sort of on the way to a field and public footpath although you could easily get to it through the estate that most of the chavs use OUR road to get to. The estate and the road run parallel so depending on which way they're walking from they either take our road or the proper road to the top of the estate.

Blocking off isn't an option because the road/path leads to people's garages.

Have you told the local (and national) newspapers?

Councils don't like bad press. Make a huge noise about it, and get them to do something. The MP will certainly feel the pressure today, having just been voted into office.

good god :( how terrible for you guys :(

as said above, if the council/police won't do anything properly by themselves, you'll have to make lots of noise and hope for the best. the little shits running amok deserve a swift kicking tbh :/

One of Lou's friends knows someone at the local newspaper and has been in touch with him.

The police have just been and had a poke around. Lou found a smashed lighter which was partially melted when she wandered to the newsagents so they've taken it away for forensics to look at. We had a wander around together with the policeman and saw a couple more torched cars which I'm adding to that page now.

Apparently we're one of three people who've reported it yet none were from our road. It could be because they've gone to work and haven't had the chance but it's obvious their cars were badly damaged judging by the piles of ash on the ground so we might chat to them a bit later today when they return from work.

Do you not have access to any scary people Kenneh?

If that were my car I would ring a mate up who would then sit outside waiting for any chav looking person to walk past, then threaten them with death.

You may say thats risky because they will then brick your windows, but you are getting property damaged by just doing nothing.

I would want some knee caps smashed if they did that to my car.

I left most my scary friends behind in Bognor! It just gets you down, I think at one stage we were paying on average £50 a month out to repair vandalism, and you can't claim on the insurance because that would lose you even more money, and the police don't actually investigate it, they just make a note of it... I'm hoping that because its arson we might actually get a more serious response then to the time they kept stabbing my car tyres. The first time such a thing happened I didn't cry, or the second, or the third, but after that you just feel so helpless and angry and frustrated that I admit I get a little teary. With no street lights, theres nothing you can really do to look after your property short of sitting next to your car all night looking like the neighbourhood loon job. We have a garage, but a) its full of crap and b) the chavs all sit around behind there after dark, smoking anyway, and I'd feel very intimidated being back there with no lighting demanding they'd get out of the way.

My poor brother has to climb into his car through the boot as attempted thieves have screw drivered all his locks but his boot one, and now has no side mirror, and globdules of melted plastic all down the side of his car, and a lot of repairs to be done. After all the accumalative damage from vandals over the years, I would imagine my car is a write off too.

Thats crappy :( Nice idea with the webcam jobbie Kenny, are you recording the pictures? If not I think you should, pipe the jpegs off to some random bit of webspace for the police to look at if you happen to catch owt on the cam.

really sucks :(

Its things like this that get me thinking up really nasty ways to hurt people :S

I hope the police do something this time, failing that, as everyone has said, make a load of noise, till people listen.

If you need extra voices, I'm sure others will join me in offering assistance.

save all the pictures. also, how about a high intensity light with a motion sensor? anyone walking in front of that would trigger it, and imo the little vandalizing ***** wouldn't like doing what they do when bathed in light :/

we had two of those in my old back garden you see, after several bikes were stolen :(

The camera's updating that online cam every 6 seconds while it's on and when I'm not around in the lounge I set it to also record video when it detects motion.

Seeing stuff like this really infuriates me. The sooner chavs are neutered for claiming benefits the better.

Canterbury. For the most part it's really a nice place to live but it's our first place and we didn't really have a wealth of choices. We'd move if we could but due to certain factors that's not on the cards for a while...unless Lou's book sells millions and millions of copies. :)
