Blizzard has released its schedule for GamesCom 2013, which includes a hands-on playtest with the console version of Diablo III, live performances of some of the game music, and a Diablo costume contest. The event will also feature roundtable discussions with Blizzard's community team and a special roundtable for video creators and streamers.

With auction house prices spiraling out of control and rampant inflation devaluing gold by the minute, many players have started adding challenge by building characters using only items they find themselves. Community Manager Grimiku commented on the idea in the forum this week, confirming that the team is thinking about self-found gameplay and hinting that it may be introduced as an official mode in the future. (So basically your thinking of turning it into... the fucking game it should have been in the first place?)

Purist form is the only way to play Diablo anyway, just a matter of self control :p

tbh with one char (64) stuck at Belial on Inferno, and with one char coming up through the ranks (30ish) , I have managed to save approx 800k gold throughout all the hours of play. How people have managed to get together millions is beyond me, especially given the fact that drops and random finds are still CRAP even after patch 8 (even with something like 50% extra chance for magical itams), and vendors are even beyond crap. The game itself is a reasonable click-fest but the lack of a decent progressive upgrade path is just wank.

They either buy it for rl cash from the Real Money Kotick House or they've gotten very very lucky with an item drop (I've only ever found 1 item worth selling and that netted me nearly 400million and thats the only item i've found since release thats worth selling)

meh. I saved up a bunch of decent rare items and stuck em on the AH for between 50k and 200k each. I sold two and gave the rest to the smith. I have one legendary, a helm, which I am keeping. I also had one which I gave to the smith to see what would happen, but I forget what it was. Some belt iirc.

Have to try and see how much gold one can make if you sell absolutely every piece of crap that drops :p

Tried, if you do that and have 200-300% gold find you can still make 600k+ an hour easily, gets boring very fast tho.

I played through without buying anything, back when I played it. Sold plenty and made a few quid. I don't really see the problem?

Except for the game not being all that good on the Nth play through.

In saying that I keep intending to get around to installing it again and starting something new, maybe a monk or something.

Well obviously if you make some money you arent going to see the problem :p the Auction House ruined Diablo 3, the players know it and even Blizzard admits the Auction House has hurt the game. It basically defied everything that made previous Diablo games great, people having to barter items with players or find it themselves can now simply pay to win bypassing almost all of the games point, once you get through the story the only point in the game is to get better gear which they can just buy.

holy hell I am annoyed at the fucking drops man  this time it's class specific drops that are doing my nut in: what is the point of say barb class specific drops granting INT bonusses, or monk class specifics granting anything other than DEX? I found a monk specific helm that granted me 97 STR. why? WHY? NGGGHGGGG

It's not a case of "Why does this effect a single player" it damages the game in the long run, its removed any sort of interaction with the community between each other and basically set everyone into auto derp mode, utter twats decision to add an auction house to an ARPG.

No they won't because it won't be offline. So the biggest problem will still be there. :)

Naww, the biggest problem by far is the gold auction house :p I do admit no offline play is also an issue but its definitely not the worse one.

Nope, loot drops. Gold auction house would be completely optinal if loot drops worked ;)

indeed. if Loot / the merchants had worked properly then all would have been just fine. imo they were crippled deliberately so Bliz could get in on the RMAH / AH action but hey ho.
