The Italian Job

As much as I want to hate the film, the trailer I saw made it look quite good. Maybe not up there in the classic bar where the original is getting nicely oiled, but good none the less, but then apearances can be deceptive. Regardless it can't be worse than the stallone remake of Get Carter can it?

If you wanna see a truly great heist film with Ed Norton, watch 'The Score' with Robert DeNiro.

how?

He was contracted to do one more film for the production company (I think Paramount) and was basically given a 'you will star in this film or we sue you for breach of contract' type choice!

I felt slightly sick looking at that site. It's not meant to be... the original is sacred.

And the "cool" pumping guiatar music in the background of the site.. it's all wrong :(

*sigh* no, the girl I'm talking about in my [it's not a blog ffs ] thing is semi-aware of how I feel. she and I are in the process of finding out if we're going to admit we like each other or not. I have to tell her soon so she can do her girly "ooh! I had no idea!" act :)

tbh she's been chiding me that I haven't been able to tell her what she wants to hear. I'm doubting myself slightly atm, and thus can't be my suave urban self :(

Looks like Ocean's 11, mk 2.

Which is ok, because Ocean's 11 was decent.

The original or the remake?

I enjoyed both equally...

The remake. One of the best "popcorn movies" I've seen in ages. The Italian Job (remake) looks like it's trying to be similar.

Unfortunately, whilst Ocean's Eleven had Soderberg (imo one of the best directors/cinematographers of the current generation), Clooney (whatever you think of his acting he's got style), and a great supporting cast of classically trained actors and comedians, The Italian Job has the guy who directed "A Man Apart" and "Negotiator", Mark Wahlberg (Clooney's shadow), and Jason Statham (...oh ...dear).

Which leaves me with a little apprehension. Hopefully Messrs Norton and Sutherland can deliver the goods, but I've got a feeling they'll be consigned to bit parts. I'll still go and see it, mind. But then I go and see everything. Even Bulletproof Monk.

Mark Wahlberg is a whiney cunt. He seems to believe that putting on a high pitch face and squinting a bit = acting.

The sad fact is that directors seem to agree :|

I might just have to watch it by myself. I don't see Rob much anymore.
