(Whine mode on)

We paying customers really go on a GoA-Rollercoaster ride when it comes to news about the interesting things ingame....at times Requiel and crew does a great, although 95% "unofficial", job in bringing us news and help of expansions and other things.

On the other hand we get things like the past Midgard ToA-lag that ran without extremly little official or unofficial news and now we got the Opentransit issue. Im really amazed that they have the stomach to give us Friday news and not address the problems we got.

I havnt seen any posts about the wish for us to send them ping-plots on the official site, I havnt seen many posts that gives update (yes even if they are small or none) about the continuing lagspikes on the server.

I havnt seen many posts about the horribly slow market explorers that only work well when it isnt primetime.

We get a "Soon" for about a week as info on when the new, improved statistics page will open up and no news about it in the Friday news.

Feel free to reply to any of these questions GM's as I doubt we get any official news anytime soon - at least you GM's do you're best here on the forums and on numerous occasions ingame.

Yes I wrote this whine in anger cause get stunned by albs and also getting a sweet 15 second lagspike is so lovely I forgot to laugh. :puke:

heh, the other day i was at a keep defence, pc crashed after an evening of mass zerg. All was clear when i crashed, taking into account the 30-40 seconds it takes for your character to disapear when you have any form of ld, i was at our tower door, i log back on to find myself at the small hib camp north of str relic keep, all is well ... or so it seems ... i cant find the teleport stone, merchants don't work, hastener, nothing. I look at my screen carefully to find i have a "release timer" :twak: so i get a death for, what was in effect, a death outside an empty keep when i shouldn't have had one :eek7:

Although not on the official site you could try checking out the sticky post at the top of the general section here - https://forums.freddyshouse.com/showthread.php?t=40615
Also, I cba to do it now, but the market explorer issue was talked about on here not so long ago so you'll have to do a search for it.

Also everyone that reports the lag via RightNow - our official support channel - is asked to provide pingplots as well.

Question: is the lag a problem or not? If it is a problem why don't GoA post something about it on their official website? In the latest news GoA try to blame lag issues on the number of people logging on to the servers at peak time. Yet here we are told by people that supposedly represent this company that it's an OT problem and we should send in pingplots.

I live in the UK and for a month before NF was released i played on the US servers, on Lancelot and Merlin, two of the busiest servers in the US. I never had anything like the lag we've been getting recently.

that's only 1 thing requiel, but what about all those others?

Indeed there is too little information provided to us. GOA needs to start making daily updates on what is going on, I mean, how much time does it take to make a little text writing the current problems, how far you guys are with solving them, and if you cannot do so yourself, when mythic inc will have a solution.
Could be done in 15~30 minutes... 1 of you out there can spend that time now can't you? if not, GOA is more fecked up then anyone here realises.

[EDIT] No offence though to the game masters, for what I have experienced by talking to them, they do try the best they can, but I guess GOA as a company is just too cheap.

Lag:

there are several types of lag.

Serverside lag - this is what happens when theres 1300 people in a zone all going mad with spell effects or like on Gorre spamming Gold and Glory. The server slows down, too much going on for its processors. This isn't massively often at the moment though I noticed a bit in toa during a 4.2 raid - but given they used to crash the entire ToA zones a few patches ago a bit of lag isn't surprising.

Fixing this involves buying new servers or improving the server code (i.e. a new patch), or just having less people in the one place :)

Connection lag - this has a number of possible causes from your network card drivers to your ISP hanging up on you to the backbone taking you to the game servers (i.e.. opentransit) having dodgy routers to something on the internal goa network being misconfigured.

Fixing this could be achieved by upgrading your network card drivers, changing ISPs, phoning your ISP to complain, providing pingplots to GOA to send to OT to tell them to fix a dodgy router or GOA investigating and fixing something on their network. Things like pingplotter graphs are very very handy as they point out where the problem is. As does a description of the lag (e.g. if you go LD every time you teleport it's almost certainly your NIC/computer not the connection to the servers)

Framerate lag
This manifests by your computer not responding so fast, you might hear your hard drive having a hissy fit, your mouse stops responding quickly, you find it hard to turn your character around and is generally caused by graphic intensive zones/areas in the game (e.g. Krondon in albion SI is quite polygon heavy and lags a lot of people, the new frontiers keeps are fairly intricate) or by having lots and lots of players and spell effects around to lag you.

Ways to fix it involve reducing the graphics options on your client (old style trees or terrain), turning off spell effects etc.
That or a computer upgrade - more memory, faster processor, faster graphics card etc.
