Friday news, come & get a slice !
[2003-18-04]

On the menu this week : first, a little salad, served fresh with a 1.60 patch, followed by some Chronicles with a little piece of the coming add-ons and extensions, and finally, for the dessert, some reminder about hacked accounts, inner realms travelling and a slice about the problem of patching to US servers.

Enjoy and eat with a good appetite.

Patch 1.60

The German tests are done as I write these lines and we are now onward to the final English tests. If nothing major comes up for the next couple of days, we should be able to patch all live servers to 1.60 by the middle of next week. Big thanks to the all the E&E volunteers who participated in the tests.
As said last week, you can find the patch notes from 1.58 to 1.60 in our knowledge database.

Camelot Chronicles.

We are still actively testing the Chronicles. We have already been through about half a dozen of version of the parser just this week. While the last one we received worked a lot better, the process time is still way too long and we still have a lot of errors showing up in the logs.
We did some "live" tests on Prydwen & Orcanie this week, which is why some of you noticed the update on the Chronicles for these two servers. We will keep going on this path and we should run some more tests this weekend on all servers so do not get alarmed if you see something weird on the Chronicles by Monday.

Coming add-ons & extensions.

Mythic, developers of Dark Age of Camelot, announced last week the coming of three new extensions/add-ons for the year 2003. You can find the whole Press Release here and learn more about the Housing system here
We will of course keep you informed about all this as soon as we get more information.

Account "hacking".

These last few weeks, we received a lot of complaints from players, reporting that their accounts have been "hacked". Most of problematic accounts have been compromised due to the lack of caution of their owners. Here are some examples of what you should do and not do if you do not want to take any risks with your accounts :

Install an updated anti-virus and a personal firewall on your computer.
Regularly run a virus check on your computer and on every file you download/receive via internet.
Do not leave your account information (username/password) in a .txt file on your desktop. The best is actually to write it down and put it somewhere secure.
If you use peer-to-peer programs (like Kaaza and others), be sure that you share only what you want to share and not your "secret password" directory.
Never ever give your account information to anyone, especially not your subscription information.
Do not buy "used" Dark Age of Camelot account. Quite often, we receive reports from victims who bought an account only to see the information changed just after, the characters gone, or simply the account banned. Remember that account trading/selling is against the EULA.

If, despite all the warning we gave since the start of the game, you think that someone knows your GAME information (username/password) ; immediately go to the "account" page of our website and ask for a GAME password change. If you change your email address or postal address, also remember to update your account information.

Inner Realms.

Inner zones of each realms zones known as "safe zones", no player from an enemy realm can go there. If, for any reason, a player enters in one of these "inner zones", we highly advise him to IMMEDIATELY leave the area, either by dying on a nearby guard, or by logging out and asking the Customer Support team for a character re-location.

Technical problems.

The access to our server network was a bit slow yesterday afternoon (latency and linkdeads). Defective network equipment was causing all this and everything went back to normal by the end of the afternoon. We are sorry for the problems you may have encountered during this period.

Patching to US servers.

Since the coming of the patch 1.57 and Shrouded Isles on our servers, we are having a problem with the new patching system. Sometimes, when your client is having trouble connecting to our patcher, it tries to connect to the US one. We quickly installed a fix but it did not fix all the issues and, from time to time, some players will still be patched to the US version.
We asked for another, definitive, fix to Mythic. If you are facing this problem, you will find all the answers you need in this FAQ.

Well, that should do it. Have a beautiful and sunny Easter weekend !
Oh, while talking about Easter weekend, we prepared a little egg hunting in Thidranki. Happy hunting, and good luck !

Its nice to think the patching is catching up swiftly now. Lets just not have another patching fiasco like with SI pleaseeeeeeeee.

don't imagine they'll have the problems with SI - most of that was registration (although there was missing files I suppose - they fixed them pretty quickly)

This is just a normal patch :)
