This forum needs a bit more use rather than just people posting in the what the fuck are you listening to thread IMHO.

So, bearing in mind that some people only find out about gigs via word of mouth I thought we could start a gigs thread and use it to let people know when bands are touring etc. Rather than YA BOO KEKE I GOT T1CKETS FOR (insert band that tours once every 10 years and tickets sell out in 2 seconds flat), might actually be helpful to post - oh yeah so and so are touring, im off to see em in xxxxx anyone else?

If you think its a pile of shite idea then fair enough but I do the same thing on a private forum and I usually get prodded into going to stuff I would normally have forgotten about.

I'll start the ball rolling -

Tonight (Sat 27th Nov) I'm going to see Dillinger Escape Plan + Poison The Well at the Cockpit in Leeds. Tickets are about a tenner I THINK (sorry mate bought them ages ago) and doors open at 7pm.

Here's the remaining dates of their tour:

12/09/2004 // London, UK
The Forum
w/ Poison the Well, Ephel Duath

12/10/2004 // Brighton, UK

Also Rammstein are touring Europe and thankfully added some UK dates in Feb :

February 3, 2005 LONDON (GB) — Brixton
February 4, 2005 LONDON (GB) — Brixton
February 5, 2005 LONDON (GB) — Brixton
February 6, 2005 MANCHESTER (GB) — MEN
February 7, 2005 NOTTINGHAM (GB) — Arena

Last I checked standing area tickets for the first two Brixton and Manchester gigs was sold out. I'm going to see them in Nottingham, no idea of supports.

Maybe this thread will die on its arse but least I tried ;)

Andy C @ Manga in Edinburgh on the 3rd of December if I can afford to travel. He's the best DnB DJ on the planet right now, if you're into dance music you really should go check him out.

Well I just got back from the Dillinger Escape Plan and Poison the Well gig :) Came back straight after as I was driving and knackered.

Good gig, sold out too. Doh boy both bands are hardcore, Dillinger are more "I'm going to snap off your fucking head and shit down your neck" though ;) Lots of bodies flying off the stage, one girl was knocked unconcious about 10 seconds into the first song and carried off horizontally left of stage.

Laughed as a lot of emo/hardcore kiddies were out and the venue was thorough on ID checks so they got told to fuck off even though they'd bought tickets beforehand :)

The 1st band on however (Ephel Duath)... my god they were APPALLING. Easily worst band I have seen for a few years, hardcore band with trombone player...hmm.

Anyway recommend 'em.

Jesus! That must habe been hilarious.

Saw an early Cornershop gig at the New Cross Venue (Back when they staged bands that were worth seeing). They had all manner of shit on the stage - Including a hoover.

Absolutely awful. :)

Dillinja Escape Plan are one of the most dire bands alive. Well done Xtro, you really can't hear :D

And BTW Bods, Andy C is good - but he's not on top atm. Been rather lazy this year and hasn't put as much effort into his sets as last year. I'd prolly say Loxy's been the best DJ of the year so far for me, played some amazing sets.

Regarding recent/upcoming gigs:

Machine Head - They're still on tour, should be able to see them if you want. Seen them before first time the toured on the latest album at the Astoria, went and saw them at Southampton Guildhall on tuesday night. As ever, Machine Head were great. Avoid ever going to listen to music in southampton though, it was the worst sound setup I've ever herard in my life at any location.

Upcoming:
Tonight - probably DnB - Kryiptic Minds, Loxy, TC Islam etc.
Friday 3rd December - Renegade Hardware @ The End. This night will be asolutely amazing - Pendulum, Friction, Loxy, Ink, Keaton, Raiden, Storm, Universal Project.

Prodigy at the Brixton academy on saturday night (should be a good one, as it turns into a bit of a rave and goes on till 3).

Rammstein on the 4th Feb (got a standing ticket off ebay, didn't get an email about the uk gigs, despite me being on the mailing list, gits!).

The Nation Of Ulysses is an excellent hardcore/punk type band with a trombone!

Embrace are doing a tour with Thirteen Senses supporting, I only really want to see Thirteen Senses! But Embrace are pretty good anyway. I missed the Birmingham gig but there is another in Wolverhampton in March.

Heres to hoping Thirteen Senses do a tour of their own! :drink:

I love Dillinger Escape Plan. I lurrrve music where the time signature changes constantly. A bit like listening to RATM but cut and spliced up to actually make it interesting intead of dull and posey :)

But Wij: time changes or no time changes they need to learn to be competant players and write music that isn't like wanking off in a big room filled with nothing but human shit.

The NME Awards Tour in Jan/Feb 2005 features the following bands:

The Killers! (POW!)
The Futureheads! (BLAMMO!)
Bloc Party! (KERSPLAT!)
The Kaiser Chiefs! (FOOM!)

AWESOME

Tickets are going pretty damn quick, though. NME website says a lot of the venues (EDIT: actually all of them) have already sold out, but check with your local as that probably isn't true (I learned this through personal experience with Notts Rock City). Well worth £15.50.

EDIT:
Northumbria University (January 19)
Glasgow Academy (20-21)
Nottingham Rock City (23)
Birmingham Academy (24)
Liverpool University (25)
Leeds University (27)
Manchester Academy (28-29)
Norwich UEA (31)
Bristol Academy (February 1)
Brighton Dome (2)
Cambridge Corn Exchange (4)
Southampton Guildhall (5)
Cardiff University (6)
London Brixton Academy (9)

I've just come back from watching the Towers of London.

Quite possibly the most insane gig I've ever been to, they're nothing special musically, but they top the boards in the anarchy stakes :D
