This is what I wanted/thought Eve to be about when I originally played it. It's awesome that it's actually happening. :D

QUOTE: “You’re going to die a lot because that‘s what PvP is about. Still, once you get into the mindset of ‘I’m going to lose this ship’, it’s all a lot more fun.”"

Shame about that shitty death penalty, though. You know, the running about trying to find the stuff you lost :(

Amarr victor!

:drink:

Am currently in an alliance that has some Minnie roleplaying corps though :p

Shame that alliances won't be included in it. Will definately check it out though, should be nicely timed to let me give AoC a good try.

I listened to the Dev blog last night and I have to say it looks to me like this has to be the best thing to hit eve. More or less instant action and small gang PvP become viable again. I am starting to think that it would be much better than Mercing....

nyx + station = goodness tbh.

Logged in tonight and managed to piss off my whole corp by suggesting they role-play my slaves and fight the Minmatar :p

I'm screwed.

Sorry I should explain why I reacted like that. This is a new expansion and it would be helpful to look at it in detail before complaining - I just thought you were whining thats all.

I need as much info on this as possible. Has anyone seen a detailed explanation other than what was in the Dev live chat last week?

It's due to be on SiSi tomorrow afaik, gonna try it out.

This is a very good step to create more action in low-security space and also involve roleplayers more in a big struggle, rather than getting involved in 0.0 politics and warfare.

However, this expansion is mostly for people not in 0.0 alliances and it doesn't seem to introduce anything new for existing alliances, which is a shame.
Refer to the feature page and dev blogs for more information.

SiSi is the test server which is mirrored from the main server (Tranquility) at regular (?) intervals.

Basically used to test fittings and stuff without spending any proper hard earned isk :)

I just wanted to prove (to myself if nobody else) that I have wanted to see this happen for a while.

Here is what I entered on a thread about populating the lowsec wasteland...

The low security areas would be good for adding content relative to the factional warefare storyline.

An example might be some kind of small-scale battle with some friendly-NPC ships and a bunch of enemy ships in some kind of battle, perhaps over a resource operation or territorial claim, or whatever.

This type of scenario might permit CCP to introduce newbies to the concepts of the empires and really put heavy emphasis on the backstory, whilst also involving new players in larger scale stuff rather than than boring solo bat-a-rat mission runs (Eve desperately needs some way to get newbies to do things together).

I would also expect a considerable amount of NPC traffic in Eve, yet there is none. This is a curious state of affairs. Perhaps that sort of thing might take some pirates' attention away from real players?

i doubt that tbh. mostly because pirates are pirates because they can grief legally. they cant get the same reaction from NPC's that they get from players.

the loot they get are just a bonus. what they are really after are just to piss others off.

Well, the Yulai convention's a bit fucked. The Minmatards have gone to war with concord and disabled their operations in that system.

Updates here while the server's down: Live action text updates :)

Kaminjosvig and a few other Merc corps in our alliance are going Gallente - we reckon there will be a target rich environmet of Jita lovers to pop ..... Working on standings at the moment before signing up.

The Atomic Battle Penguins have gone Gallente as well.

I'm suprised that merc forces are getting involved tbh. i kno eddZ told us if we signed up he would kill us as we need to be able to move round empire cleanly. if we signed up people would go for different factions and inevitably we would loose half the fleet when we traveled in empire

Seriously considering this, if I get into playing more actively again. Getting DDD'ed or lagged out is no fun. Almost lost my carrier yesterday. Will have to see what happens with Geminate, staying until the bitter end.

Noone involved in this?

From reading the eve-o forums, it seems like people are having a blast with it, just plain, chaotic fun and excitement. Like things were when you first started eve. Was thinking of joining the Minmatar militia, since I fly minmatar ships only.

We are a PvP corp before we are Mercs. Shifting to be mercs for the Gallente is not a big jump.

All reports of it are that it is working out fantastic if you can avoid the blobs. Lots of small gangs and stuff.

It beats watching people dock up for a week in empire!

almost thinking about trying a rescue operation on my toon that's stuck in MP5 for this.

but i'm not sure i'd like to try and jump some 40+ jumps through hostile nbsi space.
