issue 2:

Breifing the Army and slaying the dragon...



Tactics play a vital role in our chance for success.

Everyone by now should know that our dragon strength is its AOE matter proc. (aka fire breath)

The key to defeating this beast is to stop the AOE for Triggering.

Magic is our enemy.....

Cast away your items of power....

No proccing weapons, no averse proccing Armour, no posions.....

Player made weapons and Non proccing armour are the only weaps we shold be using... Check your inventory b4 you attempt to kill the dragon.....

You are better fighting it naked with your bare hands than with any item that posses magic that harms the beast....

Mages beware.... You will kill everyone if you cast offensive spells at this beast.....

The key to success is to pummel this Beast to the ground.... and pummel it without any magical effects....



We had massive success last time..... all grps disbanded b4 we struck......

Healers cast aside your healing powers and just res....

Tanks get close and underneath its belly... circle around it....fast striking weapons are vital.....

issue 4:

Dividing the loot....

Your motivation to slay this dragon should be for the glorey of Hibernia....

However slaying this beast will give us the dilema of dividing out a few rare items of gr8 power to our realm.....

The thrill of possessing one of these items motivates people but also brings out the dark side of them....

Needles to say.... The Dragon only drops are best used in defense of the realm in the hands of a fully trained player who can benefit from them most.

In lamens terms lvl 50 (we are talking about 3-4 beyond uber things here)

Fear not for the items of lesser power ( comparitivly speaking) will be available to all those close to completing their training (47+)

Nothing will be preclaimed

Everyone coming on this raid has a chance of obtaining an item....
of course the chance is small....

The division of loot will be audited and fair....

Focus on killing the beast though.....

like I say, I wanna kill this thing....

I want it to be fun... I want everyone to be envolved and contribute.... I want everyone to remeber the day we beat this damn thing....

We will be striking soon and Im really determined to keep trying if at first we dont succeed...

Pls keep the post relevent to tactics and pre-equiping...

the what to do and what not to do etc....

Remeber avoiding the AOE trigger is the key.....

Blood and gutz good....

You will be hearing in game about the specific logistics envolved with this.... including the start time....

Ill get an item listing too, from when the gerries killed it....

Think its a good idea to have 1 fg with 2 tanks, warden, druid, bard and 2 mages, all lvl 50 to help fight of adds outside the lair. otherwise theyll eat the mages. all other mages could thus help nuke the adds the strike team fights.

you could even do 2fg like this and still be ok. 4 hi tanks is a low price to pay to keep the adds from killing everyone.

Bedroc, imo there is no way 2 fg can handle those adds.



More useful would be 10+ wardens outside the lair taunting so mages can nuke - maybe grouped up with other classes for 4 or 5 fg total.


One other thing is that on the last raid I saw 3/4 of the nukes triggered by bards with power song on - despite the fact that there were about 10 mentalists giving out crack constantly.

Bards - please please don't even carry an instrument so you won't be tempted.

Last dragonraid I was on there where no tanks at all outside the lair. Still the mages managed to keep the pops at bay till Cuuldrach was down to 8-10%. Remember that all the knights will be killed before we rush the glimmer king. The mages/ and 2fg would only need to handle pops.

But sure, Im easy with having more ppl outside. 2 full grps are still a lot better than none.

I think we should think about going to fetch the tanks she teleports away as well. Its not very far but tanks cant get home on their own. better to have 1fg going to meet the teleported tanks. first to one spot, then the next.

No it's not enough with unorganized mages, rangers etc to take care of the adds. 2 good regular pbt/pbaegroups to suck in all adds is enough, then all ungrouped mages can nuke away without too much aggro. Those few wardens/druids/tanks won't make much of a change on the dragon.

the dragon will aoe no matter what you do, the key to killing it is to make the aoe less effective so it dont kill everyone in one go.
how?

ok ok well the aoe has a weakness

if all tanks melee from the front of the dragon THEY WILL ALL DIE obvisious but this is what happens all the time

if all ppl melee from behind the dragon except the one fighting it, when it aoe's only the people that stand infront of the dragon will be killed, the ones that are hitting it tail will lose a lot of life but will survive the aoe

but here is it weakness the mound in the middle of the den, you know the place where it sleeps, if everyone stands on this and hits the dragon in the back while someone tanks it from the ground (so the prople on the mound are hitting it from the back) when it aoe's the people on the mound will only lose about 1/4 of their health

this is basicly how we took the dragon down to 5% then it started to teleport people and it all went to pot from there

oh one thing about using no magic on the dragon, what you think damage add is?
magic dont matter it will aoe no matter what, just dont be infront of it when it does

Thanks all for coming....

Next time he dies.....

Small point, about 20 lvl 50's put RP first over this raid.... If they had come we may have one (bearing in minds we took dragon down to 0%)....

To kill the dragon we need full support from the whole realm and all the guilds......

Please try and make and effort to kill this thing...

Ill be organising another attempt soon (but dont quote me on that)

We planned this carefully to avoid our relics being snatched..

Thanks for organizing it Censi! Great work and we got very very close indeed! I cant beleive he didnt die.

We probably have to watch the messengers and adds better. Especially if all the deaths outside the circle caused by the adds regen the dragon. ( I saw ghosts walk into the lair when ppl got killed )


BTW I tanked him all the way from 100% down to 0% ( with some others helping sure :) ) and I did not get AOE:d once. Think we all behaved and used no magic!
