The confusion about time zones atm...

Seen a lot of people post questions about the time zones atm in europe in raid threads etc, so i thought i would explain it for the people posting their raid threads.

We in the UK are currently in BST (British Summer Time) which is GMT+1 and CET (Central European Time) is currently GMT+2 and BST+1

This is what happens when the clocks go forward like a couple weeks ago, and there seems to be a lot of confusion in the raid posts, and with people being late/early for raids etc because of the time zone confusion when people post their raids in GMT time thinking that the UK are still in that time zone when we are actually in BST now.

Hope this helps.

I thought it was like this as posted in another thread:

GMT =UK time is Greenwich Meridian Time
(So why do we observe the Greenwhich meridian, and not that of Paris, or Cairo or New York?)

+1 hour = CET or Central European Time.

I agree with Banana. Just us UK vs CET times and forget about GTM or BST.

when GMT= 01.00
then BST = 02.00 until 01:00 GMT 29 October 2006 (when it'd be 01.00, same as GMT).
and CET = 04.00 until 01:00 GMT 29 October 2006 (when it'd be 03.00).

UK Standard Time IS GMT though UK Summer Time = BST (British Summer time) is GMT+1.

There are three different time zones across the EU:

Western Europe Time Zone (GMT):
United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal

Central Europe Time Zone (GMT + 1):
Austria, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden

Eastern Europe Time Zone (GMT + 2):
Finland and Greece

We just had a thread about this on Alb. Hope this can help.

At winter: 8PM GMT = 8PM English Time = 21.00 CET
At Summer: 8PM GMT = 9PM English time (BST) = 21.00 CET/wintertime = 22.00 CET/summertime
8PM English time (BST) = 7PM GMT = 20.00 CET/wintertime = 21.00 CET/summertime

GMT is just static. Most people have learned to use it instead of UK time but I wouldn't think it creates any problems tbh ;)
