The big EVENT after the Ball

And there was me thinking I could enjoy an evening of peace with my little cabalist....

While the ball neared its end, Sergeant Byron approached me and asked me for a private talk. He then told me that he had met Gareth of the guild of shadows, who had muttered something about lost messages, but would only talk to another member of the guild of shadows. Byron also told me to keep it rather secret, for you never know who might be listening or interested in those scrolls.

So I grabbed my old battle brother Cawen and we two mercenaries headed over to Cotswold to meet Gareth in his room in the inn. I talked to him about his mission and he informed us that some messages of high importance had somehow gotten into the hands of the Ellyl at their ruins, and that he wanted them back. He also said we'd have to move rather fast.

I promptly informed the Knights Templar, then headed back to the ball to tell the remaining merrymakers that the guild of shadows needed their help. In the end, we assembled quite a big force in Sauvage Keep, made up of many Templars, some Utopia people and the Darkshadow couple, plus Ala from the grey company. We headed off to the Ellyl where some more Utopia guys joined us (plus some others I guess, but I quite lost count). In the end, I guess we were something between 20 and 30 people, all 40+.

We sent our infiltrators in to scout the area, and Carrain, Liste and Jupitus reported an Ellyl Loremaster in the ruins, surrounded by some spectacular lightning. After some messing around we finally lured the bugger out and killed him - he dropped some bundles of parchment, and then hell broke loose. A strange Elf called Slomean (or something) the Yellow appeared and complained he had come to late, voices in our heads told us to run before the Ellyl army would squash us, but being the brave fighters we were we stood proud - and fell. When the dust settled I counted about 10 Ellyl champions, two sages, plus some guards and villagers. We got quite a beating. Slomean the Yellow appeared again, mocked us a bit but said he'd leave us the messages.

Battered and bruised (and kindly rezzed by some adventurers nearby) we made way back to Cotswold. Gareth rewarded all those who gave him the scrolls with a lot of experience, but vanished very quickly. Then Sergeant Byron woke from our voices in his room, and met us down in the Pub. There he thanked us and assured us that we did a good job. Looks like we can expect to see more from him, Gareth and this Slomean fellow.

______________

That was one hell of an event. I only fear that most people did not get any reward. I think only those in my group received the scrolls. I still have two of those in my backpack that I wanted to hand over to some others, but Gareth vanished really really fast. Those scrolls are worth half a bub experience at lvl 42, so quite nice. I also was not sure how many people I should have mobilized, but quickly informing the remaining ball people seemed sensible. Thanks to all who came around, thanks to Ozwaldo and co who rezzed us. Was great fun, though we all died :)

The ball was great fun so thanks to whoever organised that and a hearty pat on the back for everyone who told stories (Laird, Jupitus and other people whose names evade me at the moment).

It seems we missed the best part, although whilst prepping for LB we did get a huge amount of death spam from the Ellylls. You have just exlplained why :)

You can never have everyone at such an event, Turamber. That's just not possible. You have to be a little lucky, but I am sure that there's a lot more to come.

i was one of the people wh did not get a reward. i suicided from lyonesse to the bridge, and died at the ellyls. thats a loooooot of xp.
but still, it was worth it :)

THe resaon why only Hendricks group got rewards, was that Gareth gave out the quest like normal NPCs. which means you had to have it activated, to make it count. the ones from hendricks group got it "for free" due to Hendrick.. I think :p

It could also be the fact, that Hendricks group killed the sage, mostly alone, since the rest of us was busy holding the Large quantities of ellylls away from them while they took it out :D

Anyways, cant wait till Gareth and Byron has their next talk. i so hope im online at that time

Its small events that happens differnt places, sometimes some guilds know, and sometime they dont ..

We <Crusaders> had a guild event also, and a great one indeed, where we had to fight evil luprakens (think thats how its spelled) invaders, and once again, Sergeant Byron was in the front, leading us albion adventures, it all ended in a big complot where a master wizard came and released his fury on those who misused albion.

Great fun indeed, we did only recieve gold as reward though, no expierence, half a bub experience as lvl 42 is quite good.

The event sounds like it was fun Hendrick, hope you had fun, nice writing and thanks for sharing.

Hendrick....

Little cabalist? Little?!

Fie on you, sir. Use of the diminutive should be considered highly perilous.

I may be away on quest but I have a very long reach. <grins>

Well I for one really enjoyed this event despite being killed twice by those nasty Ellyls, and yet not receiving a scroll. I had heard about a couple of previous events, but was never right place-right time until now, so I jumped at the chance to come along, thanks to the Templars for the invitation.

Sloeman the Yellow is going to get a taste of my blades if I ever see him again, that's for sure!

This Lightning/Acid Cloud in there looked impressive btw.
