Cheers, someone told me it was REM but it sounds really old. How long have REM been around for?

Something like 15 - 20 years.

Come on Mob, you should have known that song was REM.

If you believe they put a Man on the Moon you could go Night Swimming in Orange Crush. Then stay up all night then the next day be a Daysleeper.

Oh there was an REM special on TOTP2 yesterday about REM. Dunno if they get repeated at all later in the week.

REM are shite

I'm pretty sure they only have 1.5 albums worth listening to. And none of them were made in the last 10 years.

excellent

superb

The first one needs no intro, the second one takes a few sessions to get into, but there are some cracking tracks on it. Track 3 (suspicion) is my favourate.

Bad Day (The new single) is one of the best songs i've ever heard. I don't really rate there old stuff except for a few songs I really like. Stand and It's the end of the world are two that come to mind.

Up is a fantastic album. 'It's REM's Kid A', to coin a particularly cringeworthy phrase.

The new best of "in time" is a pretty good sampling of all their best stuff. I'd recomend it

It's actually an old song, rerecorded. But yes, it's great. Not as good as the remarkably similar "It's The End Of The World as we Know It", but class all the same. :)

As opposed to an REM special about some other band? :p

Cynical bastard :p

Just commissioned my brother to do me a compilation of all Dad's REM albums and send it to me - getting serious cravings for more variation than New adventures in hi-fi and Reveal. Most of it is very very good though.

Did you see Stipe on Frank Skinner Show, he was nervous.

He seemed a really nice guy, reminded me a little of how Moby speaks. Is he gay? Not that it matters I have just always had trouble working Stipey out.

Don't think he is gay, he's just a little eccentric. Is he ill or something?

I've never read that, just thought it was a rumour. Any reasonably trustworthy sources that could back it up? (not that it really affects my life that much) :)

he said so, last year. He's a reasonable source.
