Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogoerychwyndrobwyllllantysiliogogogogh which can be translated to "Church of St Mary in a hollow of whitehazel, near to a rapid whirlpool and to St Tysilio's church near to a red cave"

the locals just call it LLanfeyr P.G.
And while we're on the subject of long words, this is the longest English word: Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicavolcanoconiosis.

Being as it starts with Pneum and ends in sis, isn't that a medical word and therefore it's basicly Latin?

pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicavolcanoconiosis is actually a potentially fatal kind of lung disease. You're more likely to die from saying it than getting it, I think.

Actually the longest proper word is 1091 letters long, but I'm not gonna copy it out, suprisingly...

I do know some ridiculous german words. For example;
Die Flattenbittenmitdempuffpufftracken. It means level crossing, literally 'the flat bit with the choo choo track'; then there's the french ones, as boat becomes bateaux, so raft becomes flatteau bateaux

dat german word has puffpuff in it, well what does that tell you about germans?! :D

Heh, I've never heard a german use 'puffpuff*', but there are some strange dialects out there. Those from the south (Bayern), almost talk a different language from those in the north (who supposedly speak the 'correct' hoch-deutsch).

* usual word used for train is 'zug'.
