Thanks GOA

The first major Albion Relic raid - which was attended by atbout 200 people was kicked in the teeth just as it started.

Just as we are pulling the Jarls, everyone one of us was booted out the server, this had a major effect on the moral of the attacking group. We had to completly regroup and start again, then it happened again.

This delay of 30mins to an hour in us starting our raid certainly took the edge of surprise off the attack.

This is a flame, please get your act sorted pls. What ever happend to your server certainly contributed in a large way to the relic raid failing.

Thanks GOA.

Laughable. Same thing happens to the Mids on their dragon raid, tell me GOA, what hardware are you running this on? No, this doesn't happen on Mythics servers, so you can't blame the game, this is YOUR fault, what are you going to do to fix it?

Piece of shit server can't handle 200 people fighting in one sector and yet all the others servers can, plain and simple Prydwen gets the shitty end of the stick again from GOA.

Lowest populated server = Lowest spec server

All the servers aren't identical and we got stuck with the beat up old piece of shit ZX81. Even though with 2000 players thats £12,000 a month you get off us in subscriptions for no tech support and a peice of shit server.

Should one mention again that the same thing happens on US servers when large amounts of players are in the same zone?
It's a code thing... not a server problem.

Same with the graphics engine... I have to hop like a little Lurikeen bunny to get into our Border- and Portalkeeps...
can't blame GOA... could blame Mythic for buying a bugged graphics engine.

I know it is only human to look for a scapegoat when something goes wrong... fine if you want to flame GOA, a faceless company (though I still think they cannot be blamed for bugged code...).
But it goes WAY too far, if you blame a player (ie Teaspoon) for a known BUG.
"Go and die.." something like that... you people nuts?
It is a game for crying out loud...

People don't blame teaspoon for a bug, they blame him for telling the mids we were on a relic raid.
IRC had loads of people saying they went ld, and they were cursing GOA, but none of them said that we were going for the relic aswell.

I know what TeaSpoon is being blamed for, friend.

My point is- and there are several different versions of how and why the relic raid failed (I have a good friend playing on Albion, who took part in the raid, so I think I pretty much got a first hand account of the whole story)... none of them indicate that it was Teaspoon's sole mistake...

Even if a single player out of 200 fudges the raid up... does it justify the outbursts directed against him?
I am honestly shocked about Mr. Soulfly's "go and die" faux pas.

Perhaps I am going to repeat myself: It is just a game.
You know now that you can get the relic back- bravo.
But don't take it out on one or two single individuals because it went wrong this time... this would be childish.

Well the crashing thing happened on mids dragone raid, AND on relic raid TWICE. Oh wait, that means its, um, NEVER worked? I highly doubt the US servers have a 100% crash rate in these situations...

And Teaspoon and Qwegji do deserve SOME blame. They were both stupid, you get called on it when you're stupid.

Well, let me assure you that the zone crashing happened on US servers, too. Sorry for spoiling your personal vendetta against GOA...

And sure they deserve some blame. They acted foolish- and especially Teaspoon apologized a couple of times.

"Go and die..." Now pardon my french: That is one arsehole thing to say... and I am surprised that all them high and mighty Albion superheroes and -heroines are not banging their mailed fists on the tables about such an outrageous comment... *spits out*

Then again, we're GOA's customers, not Mythic's.

If I buy a something from Brand A which uses parts from Brand B and it breaks, I'll go and blame Brand A. Brand A should then solve things with Brand B to make sure it won't happen again.

Uhm... I think GOA made it pretty much clear that they only host the game... they are not messing around with the code.

Gee, feel like GOA's advocatus diaboli... but heck, it makes me itchy if someone gets blame for something he/ she is not really responsible for.

.... still waiting for some high level Albionite to comment on little Soulfly's hate mongering tirades.
This is arrogant attitude of Albion high levelers played a major role in my decision to delete my 3x char, change my nick and switch to Hibernia (and heya, Hibernia, glad I did what I did :))

Cheers Gombur. I always respected your opinions and I am glad you could shift the gear of anger back into neutral;)

From GOA site

We wish to sincerely apologise for the short notice on this server maintenance to all the brave warriors of Prydwen who got up early this morning to defend their realm and fight for their relics.
While we always try to announce this kind of maintenance some days before, sometimes there are circumstances not foreseen that causes that kind of issue.
Once again, our apologies go to all the fighters of this morning battles on Prydwen and all the players affected.

[was there another relic raid this morning or are they talking about last night?]

Afaik, GOA is supposed to do a lot more than just host the game. Still waiting for those events they promised, waiting for comments on certain issues that happened recently (server crashes anyone?), waiting for the patches etc...

Sure, I'm patient and I'm one of the last people going to whine about GOA's turtle speed. It's just like you feel itchy when someone is blames for things they didnt do, that I feel itchy when people get paid for things they don't do.

And about SF's remark: this was very, VERY misplaced indeed. Just want to say it does not reflect the attitude of the rest of our guild or any other (high) level Albs at all.

[edit]

And I must admit there's a lot of good things comming from GOA. Used RightNow twice so far and both times I was helped immediately and with good results. And I'm very content with the overall status on the servers. :)

Well, not to get off topic here... during my time on Albion, I met only a few high lvl's who stayed in touch with the ground and a human sized attitude (eg Jupitus, Mark, Lunar, the whole of the Knight Templars.. and that's about it).

Events.. everyone is screaming for events. What do you expect? Big events à la Everquest- bring a high level friend and spoil it for the "lower" levels?
Big, tough special items?
Or small, rp-ish events? I had two encounters with GOA GM's and I had a blast both times.
I count the "Eep! Too many!"*Mob runs away* in the Coruscating Mines an event... depends on how you define it.

Announcing an event will just crash another zone...;)

GOA's service is improving, no doubt.

I'm not sure what to expect from events since this is the first MMORPG I've played so far.. :) All I know is that I haven't seen one yet and only heared about 1 that was arranged for 1 guild only.

But looking at the money all those thousands of players pay, I'd expect GOA to have at least some employees working on events full time. :D Being either events regarding entire realms, or small rp events which would just require one of those employees to jump into a NPC to walk up to a group of exping/rvring people and give them some task.

Then again, I'm no expert on these games nor do I know anything about the technical aspect, so these things might be impossible. :)

I met only a few high lvl's who stayed in touch with the ground and a human sized attitude (eg Jupitus, Mark, Lunar, the whole of the Knight Templars.. and that's about it).

Sad to see you only met that few, since I can guarantee there are loads. :) Shame there's loads of the other kind aswell...

Getting a bit of topic now I see...

GOA's service is improving, no doubt.

True. :) Now all we need some more communication between GOA and the community and we're settled.

You were out of luck - shit happens over and over again. Servers were subject to a DoS attack when mids first organized a serious relic raid. Sure we crushed a relic keep when 1.36 was still running, just to prove that we could.

Yesterday you proved that you could as well. So please people - stop whining about these things. Go for it again. Next time you might succeed. True it's annoying that a server problems fux up your raid is a bitch but get over it :D

I whole-heartedly agree with you. The only difficulty I see, is just how that communication should work?

The only ways of communicating with GOA seems to be RightNow atm.
Whenever Kemor posted on the boards, he got flamed galore/spammed with off topic matters...
GOA's scapegoat if you want to put it like that ;)

I don't care that its happened before on US servers, what I care aobut is that it doesn't happen every single bloody time. Which is what appears to happen on here, once with the dragon raid and twice with the relic raid.

O

Yes.. and it happened when the Mids got all the relics and at every keep raid in general...

Sure some GOA goblin is pulling the cord every time something big is about to happen... Paranoia- here I cooooome....

I know you, for some reason, have a private vendeatta with GOA... but it has nothing to do with their servers... it is bugged code... everyone knows that and don't tell me there is no lag during large RvR actions on US servers. Won't buy it for a second.

Beep, wrong. The mids had at least one crash when they originally took the relics. I do have a problem with GOA, yes. The problem is that they couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery...

See? Give people (in other words: GOA) a chance...

I honestly think the whining and flaming should cease a little bit.
Do the US players have events like that? No.
Sure the whining on US boards will start pretty soon..
"I want events*moan and groan*"

Will we get more events? I am damn pretty sure.
A very nice recap, Hendrick... and perhaps all of us should rp a little more, eh? Seems GOA picked known rpers for their little event :)

Now I will start a little whine, myself: Moooooore events :)

Ah, and good Jupitus- my regards to Lady Lunar. It was always a joy having a little chit chat with her. :)
