This one accually made me sad irl.. cause the shit he says doesnt make sense, guard healers and deal dmg? does he even play rvr.. well thanes still gonna be standing at mtk yelling lfg then /q, better off roll a fotm...

hurray but we get mcl!! and might get a new epic torso!

No good news in there for you my friend.
A couple of things that has to be done, and it would
introduce a new class on the battlefield.

add determination at high cost.
add self mezmerize reductionbuff
nerf determination for other classes

As it is at the moment,
thane is warrior,
that gave up weaponskill, hp, cheap tank ras, +additional ras for:
dd, insta dd, insta pbae, ae dd, high value dmgadd, strcon buff.

Tho written down on paper, i can understand devs thinking its a fair offer. With determination, thanes would be overpowered and replace warriors task in rvr.
Nothing wrong with that, but i agree they should be more viable on battlefield.

Sad thing... Thane is a dead class, I would still play mine if there was a place for decent 1vs1 RvR, but it's such a rare thing so not worth it, go to emain and you'll get laughed and ignored.

You lost me at the mention of how every member of the realm can obtain an 11 dps DA at will. How are they able to do this? Are you refering to the Runemaster's Rune of Torment line? If so, I have to strongly disagree with you here. Even with the changes to the resist debuffs that made a lot of RMs go to darkness instead of the Runecarver template, the last DD in darkness is at 47 and that damage Add is at 49 darkness. Best case you can make here is that people have access to the 9.1 dps DA that RMs get at 39 darkness, but even then that's assuming you have a runemaster nearby every 10 minutes to cast the buff. You may want to reconsider the benefit of this damage add.

Those saying thane with det would replace warrior in rvr,
no Thane would not replace warrior totally it woudl just give an option to consider. Warriors would still be viable(better damage, higher shield spec mostly, higher hp, Large shield, access to PF)

It would make thane worth playing again, it wouldnt nerf warriors really since both thane and warr would have ups and downs.

Det should be available to Thanes, cant see why not as this would give them the edge to bring them on par in PvE and RvR, after all isnt this about offering balance.

By their own admission, Thanes are by far inferior as Tanks, and we all know their casting abilities are pants, even compared to Skalds least they get mezz and stun, something at least to enable them to make some kind of getaway.

At least with Det we will have something to hold us up. We will still have the medium sheild, medeocre blocking and parrying skills, poor weapon skills and rogue hit point tables.

Oh, yeah we got MCL....which for this class is only good for PvE and reducing downtime, in RvR we need something to actually enable us to kill one on one.

I bet they just used thane's as a test-char, adding every skill the mincer didnt get and gimped it to hell..

I seriously think they should give everyone or noone determination, and why do they give the allready good classes CHEAP AND GOOD RA's?

They should listen to the european boards for once, or maybe actually listen to what the TL say's?

I really don't know what mythic have against thanes... As has been pointed out if you read the druid feedback it basically says all of their issues are now being looked into.

It's just hearsay but it's difficult not to believe mackey has an issue with midgard, or at least has no experience of playing there (by all accounts he was a hibbie with a serious bad attitude on the boards over there)

The fact that a couple of patches ago they admitted that thanes were gimped and said that sc needed a total reworking and just upped the damage on our unused aoe spells and loweres power use and gave us mcl.... Not so much a reworking as a STFU noob go play a proper character.....

Oh well, gimp from start, gimp to finish, gimped by mythic as intended.

Not really gimp from start. Back in retail thanes were the kings and battlefield

Then they gave det, PF and tank RAs, and told us to roll berserkers or warriors :sleeping:

Nah, healers were kings of the battlefield because of being able to chain stun followed closely by anyone with mez. Thanes did ok because the instas and dd's and hammers did reasonable damage.

IMO its not our damage output that kills us in RvR gourping, its the severe lack of abilities that assist in a group.

Due to the lack of points we get to spend, we end up going high SC for dmg output, and a choice of high defence (sheild or parry) or high weapon.

Our epic armour must be amoung the worst in the game, low dex and qui, so blocking for us is pants, there goes "protect ability", shat stats all round. And its looks crap (yes bout time the fixed that).

But looking at most other classes, they all have something to offer a group:

Healers & Shammies - obvious what they offer
Warriors & Zerkers- great defence, huge offence.
Skalds - Speed, dmg add, health regen - everyone wants this!
Runies - speed, bubble, nukes, ae nukes, GTAoE
SM - Pets, PBAoE

Heck even Supp BDs, get a buff they can export to their m8s, even tho their pets have minds of their own.

Rogue classes, well they can solo, stealth gives them that advantage, can you imagine taking a thane into emain and trying to hind behing a tree? Erm...no. While they dont get groups, they can do their own thing.

Even something like adding snare to Mjolliner, or even giving out a decent RA that does not give the enemy auto imunity every 3 seconds would be nice.

Oh so much to wish for, still, xmas is coming, lets hope satan, i mean santa brings us sommit nice
