TFT displays

Hi

well, i have a bit of money to spend, and was pondering what to do with it, its all to do with my HND computing, and have come to the conclusion out of : Buying a laptop : A motorbike to replace the moped : or a TFT 15 inch display

I got this orrible CRT atm, and would love a thin streamlined display to go with the rest of my setup. I saw this sampo display down local shop, was about 350 quid, and looked Sharp, crisp and bright, far better than the crt im using now. Now i will mainly be using it to do programming / assignments and stuff and gaming, but not loads of gaming all the time. I know that they have "lag" but i tested this one out and it didnt seem to have any noticable lag, compared to a laptop anyway. Just need a bit of buying advice - what would you recommend?

I would idealy have a 52" plasma display screen on my wall, but dont have a spare 8k

Why bother with only a 15" screen? Okay, it's flat, but still only 15".

I only have a 15" screen, because I'm a pauper student and I can't afford a vastly expensive 17+ inch one :/

They only look nice in their native resolutions tho. And what's the point in that new GF3 when you can only run 1024x768 :/

looked about today, and i think ive decied what i want

I have been discouraged by local computer shop (whos got good geezers in there) to get a laptop from them, caus they reckon in my situation, i dont need one, got access at both home and college... they told me simple thing to do would be to get a handheld pc from dixons (damn good for prices) and the compaq is the best of the bunch, its the ipaq 3630, which is a damn nice piece of technology, itll do all i need which is wordprocessing and other little things, as well as record lectures, and play music, so im sorted

all i would need on top of that (350 quid) would be a add on CF expansion slot thing and a CF modem and IBM 340 meg microdrive for some music and stuff. More than enough for docking to the home PC. Still gonna get TFT screen as my one at the minute is horrible, wayy to blurry. Done research on screen and its got a low latency (10 - 25 ms) which is a fair bit lower than others, its got a good lumin rating, and seeing DVD on it, it has this amazing thing called clarity, and is as big as a 17" crt because lack of casing. Not bad really. thogh getting both will be a big hit to the wallet, but its somming i have to do...
