Apparently the rumour is that Arnie (being too busy as Governor) has recommended Dwayne Johnson as his replacement for the next Terminator movies.

Thoughts?

I dunno. The rock may just be mindless enough to pull off the roll. Maybe a slightly different model to Arnies for the *cough* stories sake.

The T-800WWE maybe ;)

Arnie looked too old in T3, wouldn't want to see him in T4.
T3 was crap anyway, so I don't have much hope for future films :p

If there's any role the rock could pull off, it would be eddie brock/Venom in spiderman. He looks demented already and doesn't have much personality, so no acting required!

Ooooh good call on Venom there. I can actually see that working quite well.

T3 was a bad film in it's own right and Cameron REALLY should have directed it. It shows that he didn't tbh. They turned Arnie into a walking joking one-liner instead of the rather confused but ulimately knows what to do kind of robot in the first 2.

T1, he was not a very experienced actor so pulled off the whole wooden robot thing quite well.

T2, he was a "better" actor than before. There's two classic scense in T2 that make me grin every time I watch it.... the bar scene at the start where he walks out, steals the sunglasses and rides off on a harley while Bad to the Bone plays in te background. Pure class. the second scene is when he picks up the "dead man's gun" in the secret weapons cache and just gives a wry smile out of the side of his mouth. It gave a human element to the robot that the script made quite clear was intentional.

T3, bad casting, bad script and dodgy acting. Arnie was given some REALLY bad lines that he struggled to pull off. I mean WTF was that "talk to the hand" shit? If it was meant to be "like ironic or something" then it was lost on me cos it came off as just being utter shite and out of character for arnie and the terminator. Anyway, I bought the film just to complete the set, also there's some big explosions in it which are rather pleasing. :)

Didn't think Arnie would ever do T4 anyway tbh. For starters he's too old, and secondly the 3rd film did away with the fact that the films would be centred around him.

It wouldn't suprise me if they add him in digitally, and have him do just voiceovers.

The Rock would make a terrible terminator tbh. He just doesn't have that look.

Anne Widdecombe should be the new Terminator.

Anyone with a right mind would run like fuck from her.

Why would they need a Terminator? I thought the next film would show the rise of John Conner as the leader of the Human race? They would be better using a terminator that would not be instantly recognisable, 'plastic skin' as mentioned in the first film.

Or no skin at all. They could just make it like the war at the beginning of Terminator 2, with no 'main' terminator. That would be good.

I heard arnie will be in it for a short period of time, but this is only so he can hand the reigns over to the rock.

Though actually I would try not to let the past films get in the way of another film in the Terminator universe, as long as Arnie (plus life support/zimmerframe/artificial limbs (heh)) was not involved.

Just give us the big war, ffs.

I would be more in favour of not seeing more terminators sent back through time, and seeing the beginnings of the war against Skynet and the machines.

By this point, the character of John Connor would be fairly wise to the various methods of termination anyhow, given that he's survived the two previous attempts and learned a hell of a lot of "future" information from the ones that have been sent back to protect him.

With regards to the "talk to the hand" line in T3 - it's been established previously that Terminators are equipped with learning capacity, so theoretically this line could be thought of as the natural progression of said learning, allowing the machine to emulate human behaviour. Although I agree that the rest of the cheesy lines were a little disappointing.

T3 should be looked at as a film in it's own right, rather than expecting the legacy of Cameron to carry over. It's not terrible, it's not great - one of those films that kind of relies on effects a little too much and story too little. However, I found it enjoyable - distracting for an hour or two, which is the whole point of the movies, right?

My 2p worth :)
