ok, using this beast http://www.coolermaster.com/retail/...g=eng&at=boutique&category_id=1&product_id=64

i am getting temps of 44 degrees (fan on full speed, does to 50 degrees if i dont use full speed) just from booting the comp up and it peaks out at 48 degrees. now before i was using some crappy £7 heat sink and it got to 44 degrees at full load. i know its mounted propley cos the thing burns my fingers when i touch it. so anyone got a clue what the prob could be? air flow is good and my room is only about 25 degrees.

The comp i last build for a friend of mine had the bigger brother of your heatsink, the Aero 7+. And with a 2800+ he has temps of 28 odd.

Enough thermal paste? and applied correctly?

also what cpu?

Hmm a t-bird 1.1 and you have that heatsink? and even then it's not working. Hmmm tricky one. Thermal Paste applied properly?

T-birds are notorious for running hot. As long as it doesnt go over 75/80 you should be fine.

Is your computer crashing after long periods of play?

If = no THEN don't worry.

My AMD runs at 80 degrees, under no load. No crashes, no worries.

Make sure your heatsink is the right way around as some have a lip that will hold the metal away from the cpu. Dont use too much paste and if you're anal about this lap the heatsink first as this can shave 10 degrees off the temp.

Also is the Mo Bo new as some report actual cpu core temps that are 10 degfrees higher than the surface mounted probes?
