um...

I think they f00ked some of the characters up in TTT. Kazuya for instance. His Demon Gut Punch is weakened and even if u land it they can tag out :/ His Wind God Fist can be blocked low now ???

Bah.

Depends on your definition of "f00ked up". They've balanced out the characters so the overly powerful ones are weaker now. Nina, Baek and Ogre are all much weaker than before (and you can see why). Kazuya is about right now imo. The only character who is overly powerful now is King (who has so many lamer moves it isn't true).

Kazuya was a boss in T2, hence why he was stronger in that game. In TTT they're all supposed to be competing on a more "even" playing field.

Well Kazuya has so few moves he needs some powerful ones. Also his Twin Pistons are harder to do and seem to have lost range (OK they didn't have much in the first place but now it looks like he's punching his own nose :D ). He seems to be weaker than many other characters now.

King has always been a bit lame imo. Anyone who can be bothered to learn all those multi-throws needs a real punch :) I like Armour King's back-kick-thingie-i-can't-remember-the-name-of tho.

Haven't played Nina much. Did they make it so that that that low-kick high-juggle-kick-with-big-effects (I'm great with names me :D ) doesn't combo no more ?

My favourite from T3 was Hworang (??) and he doesn't seem to have been changed too much...

Hwoarang (aka Bob) is still pretty much the same, and still not as good as Baek (imo).

Kazuya's twin pistons are nowhere near as bad as Jin's. He doesn't flow as well as Heihachi or Jin, but he has more 'bite'. Not sure if he links up with Jun at all (both Heihachi and Jin do, so probably).

You can link a Stone Head to some move which brings Jun in. She still kicks arse btw :)

Top players seem to use Hwoarang more than Baek afaik. He is less predictable and more mobile. He's just not as spam-friendly :) Also if you get the wrong move Hwoarang has several really pants ones that leave you open for ages. You have to know what you're doing. His unblockable is ace tho.

Yup it's a Stonehead, just wasn't sure if it worked with Kazuya. Hmmm... Alex has that, wonder if she'll link up with him.

I've never seen a "top" player use Hwoarang, ever. Both Hwoarang and Baek have nice kick strings, and both of them leave you open to counter if you miss them. Baek just has a bit more punch to him is all. Also, the World Champion uses Baek :) Personally, I pick both so I can do their Cannonball linkups :)

You will never beat my uber power team of Jack-2 and GunJack at Tekken Bowl :).

Having played Tekken Tag pretty much straight since I got my PS2 last friday I've noticed many things.

1) The characters have indeed been balanced out. Paul's burning fist no longer removes so much health, spamming is harder with Baek and ogre seems a bit pish now. However Angel/Devil's laser is still too powerful, King's combos are deeply lame, and its still to easy to rape people with Eddy (towards and button bash kick a lot).

2) Coming across Jack2 and GunJack in the single player game takes the piss. I spent ages up against them until I discovered that Heihachi and Paul can rape them easily.

3) Gon has dissapeared. And thank fuck for that. Same for DrB.

4) Paul still 0wns muchos arses.

5) The intro looks absolutely gorgeous.

6) The music is as bad as ever.

7) Whoreang still angers me intensely. When I press towards and kick, I expect a character to kick, not ponce about like a big jessie.

BTW my tekken is like my foreplay, all the fingers on all the buttons as quickly as possible :)

You guys ALL get PS2s then?

Happy with it or wish you had waited for the price to drop sometime this year?

I won't even consider it until either GT3 or MGS2 come out coz (IMHO) the games so far are poor.

The people that i know that have ps2's love 'em... the people that i know that don't have ps2's hate 'em... oh well, i suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder... Gran Turismo 3 is gonna be spectacular (i hope)...

I actually am a bit of a console nut.

I purchased my PSX in the first week of release and my Dreamcast in first month of release. Both at their FULL prices on release.

But I do feel that PS2 is overpriced at the moment (bearing in mind that I already have a standalone DVD player) and there are no "WOW LOOK AT ME" games out for PS2. I think Tekken 1 and Soul Calibur respectively were the draws when they were released.

I also feel that at this moment the PC is tops for gaming (especially online stuff with ADSL) and that had I purchased a PS2 it would probably not be used that much.

GT3 and MGS2 do look extra special though. I have seen video of both and they look ace.

Personally, I don't see any games worth buying a PS2 for yet, unless you're interested in graphically improved versions of existing genres.

I own a Playstation, which I bought about two years ago.

The only titles I'd *really* consider getting a PS2 for are MGS 2 and GT3 (I play GT 2 a fair bit), both sequels I know but they'll be pretty special, hopefully. Really, if I'm going to buy a new console, I'm looking for it to have at least 10 decent "must have" titles. I don't see the point in buying a PS2 for another year, at least.

For that reason, I'll hopefully be picking up a Dreamcast in the next couple of weeks. The DC has some great titles, many of which can be picked up for decent prices.

Note: The above are my personal opinions. ;)

Yep Japes. Agree with you 100%.

Dreamcast rulz PS2 (at the moment).

Must have on DC (in order)are:

Virtua Tennis
Soul Calibre
Crazy Taxi
Shenmue
Dead or Alive 2
Metrop Street Racer
Ferrari 355 Challenge
Powerstone2
Space Channel 5
Chu Chu Rocket (free)
RE: Code Veronica
Jet Set Radio
Marvel vs Capcom 2

All outstanding for their genres (and in my collection).

I am personally looking forward to Daytona USA on DC. Ah, the memories.

Depends really Emb m8.

I loved the quirkiness of the game. It had a style about it.

It could also be because I actually like that genre. I have Parrapa 1&2, ALL the Dance Dance Revolution games with a couple of dancing mats and the Beatmania games.

Space Channel 5 is fun, especially when you manage to rescue loads of hostages and they all join in your dance troop. You had to be there really.

Call it sad if you will, but hey! we are all individuals with different tastes.

Hey this is supposed to be about Tekken :)

Soek kicks arse with Hwoarang. Moves really quick and some nice juggles. Personally I suck on Hwoarang tho :D

Yep, Marshal Law was always the character I chose too.

Gon the little dinosaur was a laugh though, especially his fart move. Always makes me laugh.

Ahem, that would be "Forest Law". Marshall Law was in T2. :)

Anyway I love my PS2 to bits. And I could never figure out the people who said it was a rip off. It cost exactly the same as Saturn and PS did on launch, yet you get a PS2, and PSOne, a DVD Player, a CD player (albeit a shit one) and a rotatey PS badge into the bargain. PS games at launch were pretty piss poor (Toshinden anyone?) also.

Tried a Dreamcast before I purchased PS2. Thought Soul Calibur was immensely shit, Shenmue bored me immensely, MSR was fun (but not as good as GT or GP3 imo), and physically wanted to punch Rayman in the face. So I wasnt too impressed with it. Add in the noisiest fan since the last millwall game and a contoller designed by a blind leper, DC wasnt for me. This is not intended as a flame. I just didnt get on with DC.

Anyway must dash, got more Tony Hawk's 2 to play :)

Actually, it's "Forrest" :)

We got a PS2 for one simple reason, TTT. And it's worth every penny. If you remember back to when PSX was released, most of the games were pretty limited, and didn't really show off what the console could do. Within a few months you were seeing more sophisticated stuff, and look at the stuff that comes out now. If that kind of development cycle gets repeated with PS2... mmmmm. GT3 looks amazing, as does MGS2. It's fair to say that the "only" games you get on PS2 are just improvements over existing genres, but then that's true of anything. I haven't seen a truly original game in years, doesn't mean some of them aren't bloody good though.

Personally I can't wait for Smackdown! PS2 and Tony Hawks PS2. Mmmmm.

What ARE you on about? Tiger, the special unlock 70s disco God was by far the best.

Eddy and Tiger are for llamas :/

If u can't learn moves don't play the game. Don't just pick Eddy and spam the kick buttons and D-Pad. OK, it works a bit but it's shite :)

Kazuya is still very powerful - his Rising Uppercut (towards, down, down-towards and triangle) is still insanely fast - as it was in Tekken 3. It's noticeably faster than Jins, and is pretty much the fastest move in the game by my reckoning.

In my opinion the most over-powered character is, was and ever shall be Paul. Coupled with the fact that he has a counter, and the VERY powerful Burning Fist (if the opponent tries to hit you as it connects, it often takes off as much as 1/2 the opponent's health bar), and relatively simple 10-hit combos - he truly is the mastah :)

(Plus of course he has the emmensely cheesy low-sweep rushing punch (down + O, triangle) although (thankfully) it no longer always trips the opponent up, so you at least have some chance of blocking)..

Kazuya's too limited, no counter and his juggles are weak compared to Heihachi/Jin (Heihachi's wind god fist is WAY faster than Kazuya's). You can't wave dash as easy with him as with Jin also (maybe that's just me). He's still decent, but no way would I pick him over either of those two.

Paul is a lamet, hence why Durz plays him all the time :) He's powerful, but his 10 hit combo is easy to counter/parry though. And his moves leave him open for ages if you miss (bit like Baek, who may as well have a "punch me now" sign on his forehead).

King is clearly far more overpowered. Been experimenting with some of his chain throws and power moves, it's just ridiculous.

As for Eddy/Tiger, newbies are easy to beat, because they always use the same moves. The true Eddy masters are the ones that just stand there, wait for you to move, then put you on your arse time and time again. They are WAY more annoying than the button bashers (and a hell of a lot more difficult to fight also).

He wasn't in Tekken 3 lamelord :)

See this is what happens when you stay up all night, you lose your concentration and make silly mistakes. Tsk Darren.
