yesterday I had a go at rugby for the first time. today it took me 15 minutes to master the hurts and aches my body was yammering about enough to be able to get up :)
was good fun though, I managed to assist in one of the better attacks my team did, so I was well chuffed hehe.
anyone here play it?

I can barely walk; my feet, legs, back, chest, arms and neck hurt and are a mass of bruises. I still feel well chuffed with myself though :)

TdC, when you next play, ask to be a prop! I bet you'd love the game then.

I think that was why i did hockey instead of rugby

aha, thanks :) I knew what a hooker was (IN RUGBY THANK YOU), but as I've never done it before I have no idea what the terms and names and stuff are.

Demand to play number 8, that way you get to be the panzy show boater and never get involved with anything.

I play for my local team and have played for my county on several occasions. I've also had several trials for national teams including Wasps, Leicester and Northampton, all of which didn't work out due to a dodgy Rotator Cuff in my right shoulder :(
I normally play as a flanker either Open or Blind-side (thats numbers 6 & 7 in the scrum)

you can never really say you enjoy a game of rugby until you've broken someone somehow :D

Football - the game of thugs, played by gentlemen (sort of)

Rugby - the game of gentlemen, played by thugs

I've been playing Rugby for twenty years, mostly as second row/back row. On the verge of retiring due to past breakages coming back to haunt me - although out of all the breaks/dislocations/stiches the worst was being concussed - it's a really weird sensation until the headache sets in :(

What position did you play TDC ? girly back or thick bruiser forward ?

I used to play rugby for a local team, used to play in the full adult squad (18+ years) and after doing that for a few months and breaking 4 minor bones, amazing fun if its a good even match or if your winning but royally sucks if you getting kicked in.

I also played Blind-side flanker but also number 8 on occasion.

Oh and scooba if you have ever played a serious game of rugby you will know number 8 isn't a "show boater" at all.

He's the guy to the left or the right of the front middle person. As stated by Clowneh.

He's also the chap who has a hand gripping the shorts just under yer ball sack.

Errr - nope - the props bind with the hooker around his waist - gripping the side of his shirt - and his opposite number with the other arm/hand. The second rows bind to eahc other, then between the legs of the props - ideally on the tops of their shorts - you can grab hold of a handful of pubes if you don't like 'em :)

That must be a weird fantasy you're talking about Munkey ;)

And this is why Rugby gets christened Rubgay.

sort of bit of both tbh. I'm not very big, but I'm strong and not afreeed. my fave moment was taking out a bloke about three times as big as myself. we spent the "third half" buying each other beers and keeping people away from our barbecue meat ;)

Bodhi, iirc I once offered to beat you up before we went out to have enough pints to quench the thirst of the average desert nation...well...lets just say I get to play rugger with you too you pansy snowbording gh3ybwoi :)

damn I really have to organise a barrybeer amsterdam now :D
