Has anyone used/got one of these?

Tefal ActiFry - Special Discount Offer

Read about them and they seem to get good reviews. However they seem quite pricey for what they are. Do the chips really taste as good as fried chips? Can't beat crispy fried chips from a decent chippy.

I haven't ever been overly pleased with Tefal products, I get a lot of pro cooking kit off my mum though.

Don't they usually burst into flames?

There was a Watchdog article about them, oh and Tefal have great ideas but make utter shat products, from my experience that is.

My parents have an actifry, had it around a year. Not had any trouble with it, and it does produce good chips, at least on par with a decent deep fat fryer.

Secret to good chips is to cook them slow to start until soft, take them out, cool them, fridge them, then cook again really fast for just a few mins.

I've had one of these at home for a while, they are absolute win.
