OK all you clever types out there - just bought DAoC from a UK source but when everything is done it connects to US servers - any help to alter this to connect to euro servers please

If you bought the US version your CD-keys won't work on the EU version.

To connect to the EU servers you need to change some ip-addresses .. I'm at work atm and don't have them here. But I bet someone else can help you with that.

Thanks - tried registering account, and your quite right CD key is not recognised, so no choice but to return CD to Amazon with a kick up the Butt - silly lot - ordered it from UK store aswell

Would think you can get the EU version for your US version since you didn't use the key... Didn't know Amazon.uk sold US copies tho.

May just be an error in your Update.dat file.

This file sets which servers you connect to for patching, and may(I'm guessing here) also affect the registration server? If that's the case, you would be trying to register a UK CD-key on the US servers, which would give the error that the key is invalid (had something similar happen to me when SI first came out).

Check the Update.dat file in your game directory (can be opened with wordpad) and make sure the contents look like this (assuming you're using ToA):-

Mythic Patch
193.252.123.21:1280/updates/english/atlantis/mpatch.dat
193.252.123.21:1280/updates/english/atlantis/mpatch.dat

If it doesn't look like that, change it so it does, save the file and launch the game. Hopefully that should connect you to the Euro servers.

Thanks all for your help - but as Whoodoo has said - although I can trick the game to connect to the Euro servers - I cannot get round the fact that trying to register the account comes back with 'bad cd key' message, game will be going back and is being exchanged for euro version - just a mistake at their end

the pic of the box on amazon is the euro one (www.amazon.co.uk , not .com) and ive ordered from them before and got euro...

Infact they're in breach of their own ToS by sending you the american one which is meant not to be for sale (as their own website states) to countries in the EU.

Yep - Amazon have stated as much - was from one of their zStore merchants though - not direct from Amazon - but Amazon have got themselves involved and will ensure problem is resolved I don't want ppl thinking Amazon was at fault and far from it they are helping

Just thought I would post the final outcome here - What can I say - Fantastic - full refund - and even told not to bother returning purchase, so absolutely no expense incurred and I have ended up with US version - doubt I will use it as too much time spent on Euro server t start again in USA, but good result
