I guess Rup and Brit may be able to help me here.

I have a few 95.98 machines wanting to log on to NT Server 4.

They log on a treat. log on script runs. everything works.

BUT !!

I need them to inherit a Profile from NT.

I have seen the option in User Manager.

Attempted to make a profile and bung it in there as a .pol file. (made a user area for profiles)

Main usage to just generally restrict network access such as network neibourhood, and also set the backdrop etc.

Please give me a site where i can see what to do, (looked www.bhs.com, support.microsot.com, www.ntfaq.com, www.technet.com)
Nothing there.

It gives no errors, as in incorrect pol file/type or missing or anything. just sits there.

Do i need to tell user manager what the file is called or does it see it and go, Aha! (hmm)

Need help !

3 things to check 1st.

1. 98 and 95 PC's are in the correct workgroup (I am assuming they are)
2. Policy file for the 95 PC's is falled CONFIG.POL. NTCONFIG.POL is for NT machines only.
3. .POL files are in the correct place default on NT4 is winnt_root\System32\Repl\Imports\Scripts, this dir should be shared out as netlogon

.POL Files are SYSTEM pilicies btw, not user policies.

Hope it helps a bit

Ok, You can specify a policy for each user right ?
In their own directory.?

I dont need this.

So bunging that .pol the scripts directory will just work for all users automatically without having to specify a path.?

This would be great!

cant try it till later tonight though.

Yep, it'll work and be applied to all depending on how you setup User Groups and implement them in your system policies.
