I'm really disappointed in id... some of the reasons I don't play ut for have now been incorporated into TA...

UT's Redeemer... TA's Kamikaze... you can't deny they are similar... Imagine it... 2guys run towards the enemy base (ctf stylee)... one guy hits the button, BOOM, (from what I can tell team damage is off)... no defence left, possibly no midfield either if they followed the attackers closely enough... it's all a bit gay.

The stupid UT voice chat things, they piss me off... at least in ta you can disable them, but why even put them in? Talk about wasting space...

The maps, touted as one of the better features... well I sure hope the maps are better than the demo one... They claim to have made them bigger... while that is true, they are still the tightest pieces of BS I have ever seen... what happened to open spaces in maps? You turn a corner and run into a bunch of enemies PRACTICALLY single file cos it's so tight...

IMO id need to get sorted, I've always said that q3 was the way that id intended to make it, but since they changed certain things in the base game (like the damage through floors for example) I've been a hell of a lot more critical about them...

Opinions?

i wasn't that impressed myself, although i have only played the demo - 100+ mb for one stinking level. According to that the full came should be about 10gig ;)

The larger levels do look better, but i really feel they are playing catch-up with UT. The space maps with the planet on em are taking the piss - as is the kamikaze/redeemer similarities you mentioned.

I also think that it's over priced - UT has had loads of free map updates over the year or so, with a new one out for chrissy.

IMHO ID have fucked up - plain and simple. If it didn't have a quake name on it i doubt it'd be as popular. Personally i think that 19-20 (cant remember) dm maps is too much (q3 normal). Over the years we have been playing on only a handfull - which gets updated over time through mods, etc.
anway, ill stop here or i will go into a full frontal attack on q3 :D

in summary - TA should have been free to existing q3 owners, or released as a standalone game.
