well, if there were pics you'd agree!

I intend to take the lovely gf away with me for a weekend (or mid-week, doesn't matter tbh) break around my birthday. that's next month heh. not only will I die, or turn 30, whichever comes first, but because of my possible close shave with death I intend to wallow in the lap of luxury.

Given that I live in Holland, land of tulips and weed, I want to spend the break in some chateau in as nice an area as I can get without having to fly / drive / train very far. So...anyone have any tips?

Some ideas I've already had include flying down to Barcalona to stay at a nice hotel there that was mentioned in another thread, staying in as nice a hotel I can get in Brugge (Belgium) and trying to get a chalet in some snowed-in part of Germany. Your thoughts will be valued greatly!

Brugge is fucking ace mate, Ic been there a couple of times with mates for drunk weekends - we only stayed in youf 'ostels but who cres when ur drunk. if looking at pretty buildings and romantic restaurants is what you want brugge is the place to go, if you go in the summer (which you arnt, thankfully) there are more yanks than belgians there which is a bit gay.

The old steadfasts of Rome and Paris are good. If you are looking for something a little more unusual try Cairo or Istanbul. Closer to home Skegness, for it's quirky charm maybe, or just about anywhere in North Wales for the landscape. Can't beat a place that has some romantic associations for you as a couple though.
