Taxis

As I trudged into work, i noticed that the only cars that always appear to be in a hurry are taxis, and it left me wondering...
...Do taxis ever drive slowly or act like normal traffic?
If they are in such a hurry, why don't they get to you earlier instead of ringing up saying they can't find your house as they are lost, stupid, blind, lazy etc.

I could be wrong, but if a taxi drove like a normal driver, wouldnt it increase the likleyhood of the passenger complaining at the driver for driving slowly so he could charge more?

Round here they don't seem to know what Zebra crossings are. Lost count of the ammount of times a black cab has clipped me on my way home from work

What do you do, and how do you manage to get such shit hours?

I am a unix god, specialized in Solaris (that's what Sun calls it's flavour of nix). As a reward for protecting stupid people from doing silly things and putting in hours that make me cry I get to play with very big servers.
Once it all used to balance out. Nowadays I get to go to bed at 5am and get called awake by panicky managers at 09:30.

TdC, my mate who works for Niké Golf in Holland was saying that taxis over there are total nutters in comparison to British taxi drivers?

erm, well in my life I've been in exactly two british cabs, and the first time I threw up violently into my overnight bag and the second time was just after a barrybeer and I was pretty wasted (due to being tired mostly). Dutch taxi drivers tend to drive pretty fast, or rather, as fast as they can get away with. I suppose that's the same all over, but tbh now that you mention it I seem to recall the cabby speeding last time I was in blighty.

as for workies, I'm rounding up things here. long day tomorrow and saturday so I need sleep. and food!

Black Cabs usually drive the speed limit...perhaps the cars dont go much faster than that!
