Thought this might help some new players..

Yesterday I joined a task force with my fianceé and four others, for a group of 6. We were all 14-16. First mission, going was difficult but doable. Second mission we had to give up on. There were huge amounts of mobs that were overwhelming our tank-light group.

Anyway, we split up. Aqua and I logged off. We logged back on after some tea and we were both in the taskforce still (we hadn't quit it before we logged) and outside the mission area. Decided to have a look inside, and there was less then half the amount of mobs and they were now all white-yellow con. We zoomed through the mission in 10 minutes or so with no trouble. The rest of the taskforce missions were just as easy, becoming even easier when we both levelled to 16. We did the whole thing with just the two of us (me ice/ice blaster, her emp/elec defender).

The story was compelling, the xp wasn't bad, and the rewards were good (SO enhance).

Morale of the story, keep the taskforce group for Positron small! Not a clue if this applies to later taskforces but I'd suspect not (especially since the minimum group size becomes bigger with each taskforce). :)

Or just get a good group. Was in a group that was taking on 20-30 yellow/oranges mobs a time not so long ago. ;)

Difficulty is scaled to the number of people in the group, leading to some insanely hard enocounters when everyone isn't the same level.

Difficulty is scaled by the number of people in a group: so the more there are of you, the more important it is that the group works well together as a cohesive unit. A good player can solo a mission balanced for two, but just a couple of effective players can't handle a mission balanced for eight, so small teams are "easiest" in that sense.

Its not so much about group composition, although this does play a part. An 8 man mission team needs some form of CC (tanks effectively count as CC in many ways) and a good healer. A bunch of good buffs wouldn’t go amiss either. Its more about how much of a 'team' your team is. Level range plays a part too, if you're anything more than 4 (or even 3 really) levels below a mob, you're effectively useless against it, so if your party has a level range of more than 2/3 levels (once SKs have been applied), those at the bottom aren't contributing to the ability of the group, but are contributing to the number of mobs you encounter, making it harder for everyone.

just did the Positron TF too. started with 4, and ended with 2. it's indeed a LOT easier with just 2.

Just did it with 2 aswell [Me - Storm Psi Def] and Dapprflame a Fire Blaster of some description, after having tried to do it 3 times with a grp of 6 [each time lacking a real healer type] duoing it with two was very easy...esp with Hurricane running :p

We did the Synapse TF a couple of weeks ago - minimum group of four. Lots of running about :)

The story to it is pretty cool, and you get to meet some interesting villains. We completed it with a group of five the first time and a group of 8 the second (a week later), and the mobs weren't any different either time. Except for the two key villains - they were a tad harder, I suspect.

Who comes after Synapse? Anyone know?

Some kind of fire blaster - pah - you weren't saying that when we were down that cave

If was quite easy for the two of us though - only a couple of times did a lack of endurance make things scary.

It proved one thing though - Garlic Breath rules :flame:
