Guys,

Need a little guidance here.

Fixing a pc for someone and have managed to clear out 27 virii and 43 spy/adaware.

Just fine tuning the pc and chacking that there is nothing rogue running in the background.....but I cannot get the task manager to show.

ctrl-alt-del (3 finger salute) doesnt do it

right click on task bar doesnt do it.

start-run-msconfig/msconfig32 doesnt do anything either.

any other way?

Celeron 900 Mhz
128 MB
Windows XP Home (without SP) - cant get them to run either.

Just for you to know: ctrl-shift-escape - direct call to task manager

Well,

For those who are interested.

Installed one of the alternative task managers from softpedia which worked great, but didnt really show anything untoward.

due to someones suggestion of using Kaspersky Antivirus, I d/loaded and installed that on the PC.

Lo and behold it picked up a slew of virii that Grisoft didnt even notice. Once these were cleaned out, the Task Manager (default) worked as it should)

seems one of the virii (pick one from the 122 it found) was preventing it running properly.
