what with NF looming on the horizon, not all of us want to make a FOTM caster or scout , and i hear, though i cant see there being no tanks , that tanks arent wanted.

Balls to that, if they dont want us in thier grps well bloody well make our own

So im thinking strongly of making a serious tank guild, well all start out lvl 20-24 <hopefully got some thiddies hanging around>. And well try the best to keep ourselves within relative range of lvls of each other so we can allways make some kick ass grps. PvE kicks ass with tanks vs mobs we all know that, no silly casters or crappy low abs armour chars to protect.

Classes id allow would be..

ARMSMAN
PALADIN
MERC
REAVER
MINSTREL <Though not technicly a tank as such they can fight and they have melee ablative which is extremely useful in tank grps>
and
CLERIC

Providing weve got a Cleric and Pally in the grp all the time <and lets face it almost everyone owns a Pally> we gt no downtime.

if you gonna xp from 20 and roll a new char, why not roll casters and make a caster group? You will level faster and gives you a ready made group for NF

i wont roll a caster guild, cos i dont like casters, and woooo no sorc, so, by nf well all have access to purge and det anyway and unlike a caster who gets mezzed we dont go down in 1 hit, and being hit breaks the mezz off us.

As for friar question, 1 simple reason for that, friars hit damn fast and hard, and seeing as i know having 2 ex 50 friars, u pull agro off tanks quite easily and just dont have the armour to take the hits, especially with losing dodger in NF would cause a problem.

Why do people got to put thier little negative thoughts into every thread that gets made here, i said post if ure interested, not post to try to make me reconsider

I like the idea m8...although i would never leave the Shadowlords for a tank guild. I enjoy the variety of my chars. Ok, i know that my armsman will find it very very very hard to get groups (except guild, cos they look after me (o: ..). And i do understand how irritating this is to be left at ATK in favour of a sorc or something. It seems as though the Armsman are the bastard sons of DAoC. Nobody loves us, wants us or will admit to having one for fear of ridicule. I would never change him for anything. He is my Main, and even if i had 8 lvl 50 chars he will always be my main. I hope you really get it off the ground, and keep it flying m8. Also, i hope that someday, somehow...we get the loving that we have been after since day 1. I would love to shake the armsman TL warmly by the throat. might shake some sense into him to give us something to make us more group friendly and wanted by others. Anyway..rant off now (o: . Hope i meet you all at ATK sometime and you have room for one of your own to run with. Sod the rest...go with the best..ARMSMEN

get a support friar, 29 staff, 34 rejuv, 48 enhance or so - nice anti-nuke resist buffs, bit of healing and can tank things if need be.

Just because a friar might get aggro doesn't mean they're not a hybrid tank. They don't have nukes - infact they have no ranged damage whatsoever.

Oh and you will have mezz - as long as your clerics spec right

Well... i guess i could insert friars into the mix after all since your passionate about them hehe, keep the interest coming in and ill start setting a date we can meet in goth and get it underway.. even if we have to pay 1 or 2 lowbies to help form it to get it off the ground..

Not at all, a rejuv friar is one of the few BG classes that is still useful to the group while the casters don't have tanks on them, but still need the friar to stay close. Pallys/armsmen/mercs just have to stand around like lemons or go into melee and risk being too far away when the casters get attacked (or use xbow ofc).

Nope - friars are wanted, providing theyre happy to accept a role in a group that does NOT involve twatting things with their staff.

Bodyguard, resist buffs & backup heals will be the role of friars in most groups - whether most friars are happy with this is up to them (since its NOT what most had in mind when they created char etc)
