I got to the last stage of this quest, with my lvl22 Skald, and as I was solo, came up with a 'cunning plan'.
I would pull the Baron, along with his 3 cohorts, out of the WW fort, and down the path to the guard tower. Along the way I would slow/stun the Baron so that he would arrive at the Tower after the Sentrys had killed his pals. I would then rush back and kill him before he got in range of the guards.
Sounded cool and groovy, and workable... 'cept it didn't.
First part went according to plan. I hit the Baron with a 'compel submission' chant, which wasn't resisted. I then proceeded to taunt the other 3 WWs down the path to the Tower. I stopped every now and then to ensure they were still following (and that the Baron was well behind them), and they were.
About halfway down, they always seem to stop and turn back, so I made sure I hit one with a War Shriek to keep them coming. At the same time I hit the Baron with another 'slow-mo' chant. Again they all charged after me, with the Baron trailing behind.
Now it all went funny... no matter how far behind the Baron was, he always seemed to catch them up right before the Guard Tower, giving me no time to stun him and keep him out of range of the sentrys (who were busily dispatching the others to Werewolf heaven). Result was the sentrys killed Falwur, and I got nothing for my efforts.
Now either the Baron is a world class sprinter, or there's a little bug-ette in the game. I tried this four times, each time with the same result. No matter how much I slowed him up, he always arrived at the Tower at the same time as his buddies.
In the end 'Blood' kindly came to my aid, and dispatched the Baron in his own hut
Anyone else tried this method? and did it work?
