Hi All,

I was just posting to see if anyone was watching the progress of Tabula Rasa and what they thought of the game. For those that don't know it's a MMORPG with shooter style action and is due out later this year. The official site is www.playtr.com.

The games Executive Producer is Richard Garriott (Ultima/Ultima Online etc) and it is his new brain child.

Let me know your thoughts and views of this game.

Regards,

Khan

Been following it since it was announced.. but i can't see it ever being released just seems delay after delay tbh you would have thought closed beta test would have began by now.

I would have agreed with you but PlayNC have started internal testing and they have just announced the community rep who starts full time in September who will coordinate the closed beta testing and eventually open.

I think they may have issues finishing it and releasing it all before the year is out but I do have faith we will be playing Tabula Rasa soon.

Is this out of date game any close to being released? they might as well get working on a new engine seeing as the game has been in development for around 3 years!

No way in hell this game will get released and if it does it will be a disaster.

Amazed that people still talk about this mythical pve adventure.

It's been one of the most pointless endeavours ever by any mmog development team. This game released a year ago would have had a chance, now it's a joke and I still doubt it even exists tbh.

Out dated before it was even released, why are they still bothering i wonder?

It is actually more like a mmorpg than a fps, the fact that many players can't tell that is one of the reasons this game is flawed.

I registered for the closed beta, but my computer is already too slow so I doubt I have a chance to beta test it. Anyway, the seems interesting and the graphics is ok, it's the best mmorpg or at least it is something different.

I just wanted to revive this thread and ask if somebody is already in the closed beta? Has it started at all or not yet?

Fantastic argument, that's like saying because some people can't add 1 and 1 together to 2 that 1 + 2 = 2 is flawed.

Game looks promising and different.

As was said, it's only one of the many reasons the game is flawed, please be careful when quoting people out of context. If you knew anything about this game you would know that it is the development team who have generated this confusion by slowly and slightly changing the direction of the game over the last several years.

If a game cannot identify itself to it's target market clearly, how does it ever hope to be successful?

Three different answers on this thread alone is a pretty good indication that most people either don't really know what this game actually is or simply don't care enough to be bothered to go and find out.

I came across it for the first time about a month ago; done a bit of preview reading and really like some of the ideas they're coming up with - long, in-depth, instanced missions; squad tactics; pseudo-fps combat (the underlying hit/miss calculation engine is "dice" based, but you can apparently do stuff like crouch or hide behind rocks to improve your chances) - and a rather neat idea - you can clone your character at certain points, and it saves their progress through the career tree - meaning you can then come back to that clone and choose a different career path, without having to make a new char and repeat all the noobie bits you've already done. It reminds me a bit of SWGs skill boxes - I was really disappointed when they went to a class based system like every other mmo.

From the bits of articles I've read tho, and some of the posts in this thread, I get the impression its been in development for several years and its going in a vastly different direction to the one it was originally going in. I'm also not sure I like PvP description - it all seems to be "guild declares war on guild" type stuff.

I recently read an article on their homepage, it has been in development for some years and both branches of NCSoft - in the US and in Korea were working on it when it turned out that it is not working because of the cultural differences and they assigned it to the american branch only and started anew - so the current game is really in development for 3 years now I think.

This mmo is not really my type, but I would really like to try it out. I guess it would be very very difficult for as I haven't played even popular fps games like Counter Strike, but it would be a new experience for me... I am really starting to get bored of all those fantasy mmorpgs, which are so similar to one another.

Same here really but as has been discovered with MMOPRG that try and do something different IE Auto Assault it just doesn't work.

well, AA kinda fell for its own preassure. it WAS widely anticipated. but the constant pushbacks on the release dates (think it went live 2 years behind) kinda made ppl grow tired of it and went elsewhere. if they would have managed to release the game more on time they would have had enough subs to actually make something of the game, rather then what they are focusing on now. nerfs insted of adding content. AA has its moments. but the huge lack of anything that even resamble end gamne content (and dont u fking dare to say that token faming or DB/Tower farming in GZ is end game content) :p

unless ofc ur Tank... xD

/edit: typos.. :(

Don't think i'm breaking NDA by saying i've enjoyed what little i've played so far, however personally for me what i'm mostly interested in is the implementation of the clanbased pvp that is in the works. (That fact has been published in interviews with the developers, so again, not breaking NDA!) :)
