Yeh, guessing it means ill have to start again next year though? Feels like bottling it though as i've done all the work ahead, but accountancy is the direct i don't want to be heading into.

What year are you in? If you are switching courses within the same Uni they may allow you to skip the first year so that you go straight in to second (especially if you stay within the same school, such as a Business subject if you're currently doing accounting). Talk to your tutor/supervisor etc and just be up front - they'll let you know what options you have.

If you're not enjoying it definately change imo (unless you're in 3rd year where i'd just suggest sticking it out and trying to get on to a graduate scheme on the back of having a degree).

First year, staying in the same place and would most likely switch to Business Environment/Marketing (a general overall business degree) which is more what i wanted to do rather then the Accountancy side.

I enjoy aspects but it's that i don't want to be an accountant and this is geared towards that rather then the side of business i enjoy and wanted to head into.

Yeah change as quick as you can mate. I did a full year in science before i realised it wasnt for me and if id just had the ball to admit at christmas i didnt want to do it anymore i would have saved myself like 3 grand. If your not happy get out as soon as you can!

you probably cant start mid-year, so you are gonna have to either drop out and not do anything or stay on your old spot for the spring semester. but you should be able to take some courses that are mandatory on your new spot, so you could stay at your old spot and just do these courses, then drop out and start over next fall with some parts already completed.
thats what i did. and i didnt even stay in the same field, i went from pharmacy to philosophy :)

Since you've only done one semester you might be able to switch across directly mate. Do the marks from your first year contribute to your final degree classification or are they just to see whether you can get in to the 2nd year?

See whether to get into to 2nd year.

Chances are they'll let you switch directly across as you probably share some modules with Business/Marketing students. Speak to someone at the business school on Monday imo and see what they can do.

If you share some modules then you probably should be ok with just switching at the end of the term/year.
On my course (first year) I can switch to any other subject at the end of the year as long as I have done the compulsory modules for that course. (e.g. I'm taking some politics modules so I could switch to politics at the end of the year if I wanted to)

Contrary to popular belief, people can be wrong in philosophy; so yes, you did. :p

Most employable degree in the country if you do it at Oxford.

wow I guess I'm really lucky with mine because I am really enjoying it, though it's distance learning so I don't have many external factors piddling me off and making me want to quit. After 2.5 years though I'd just grit my teeth and get it done it would be such a shame to stop at that point, I think anyway.

but then I am a bit bloody minded lol
