Professional gamers are different!

It seems that gamers who have an interest in becoming professionals, differ a great deal from other enthusiastic gamers. They are younger and they are in broad terms dedicated multiplayer gamers. They also believe that it would be great fun to become professional gamers and don’t see any particular downsides to this career option.

These are some of the basic results from a huge survey, where 420 respondents took part. Thanks to all of you who spend some time filling out our questionnaire. As promised, you can find the results on Game-research.com:

Enjoy!

Kind regards,

Because they're not Pro-lamers.

[Questionable, I know]

Because it costs $600 to buy the whole report, thats why they do it.
Which technically makes his post "advertising" and.... ah sod it, its an interesting read.... I'll restrain my pavlovian delete thread urge.

Yes, there's the report, but...

I can understand why some tend to look at this post critically, considering the consultancy report released later on. Let me explain the matter from our POV...

The basic results released in the article are the summarized results from the survey - people can make their own report from that and sell it, if they can or want to.

The report contains the results + analysis + wider perspectives and conclusions, whereas the survey only plays part of the report. Off course a lot of work like that is worth something - if someone wants to pay that is ;-)

This is not a commercial, a lot of people asked for the results because they took part and here they are - use them as you like and make your own conclusions if you feel like it...

Regards,
JBP

Hmm, fairly interesting, thx!

The n00bie-flamers have gotten so used to flaming, that they can't distinguish between a n00bie/pimper/twat and someone giving good information :)

So let me get this straight..

People who wish to persue a career in a particular vocation put more effort into making sure they qualify than those with a vague interest in the subject matter.

Well bugger me, that's some crazy shit. Who would've guessed pro gamers play multiplayer games more than "average" people.

Forgive my sarcasm - but it seems a survey like this just reaffirms something everybody knew in the first place, i.e. that people who want to be pro gamers play games more than everyday people.

· 37 were female (8%)
Which just goes to show - money or no money - pro-gaming is a very, very geeky business to be in. :(

What makes women not geeky? Surely you can get geeky ladehs?

Well, ok, i've never seen any :/

Exactly.

And if they are, they're part of that 8%. Sad but true.

Only two exceptions to this rule are Asia Carrera (who plays Unreal Tournament in between doing XXX movies) and Carla. And that's solid gold fact!*

* Probably.

All 2 of them? And just because they post on forums full of... well... ...us really, that doesn't make them geeks.
