So,

Having bought a new LED-Tv back in Sept.
It's now time to give it some sound,
first off the receiver, I find my self taken by this one
DENON AVR-1911 (1910) price is roughly £300.

Does anyone have this, or have any experience with this ?

Onkyo are better in the low to mid range for av receivers. The denon is nice though, demo a few. Try importing from Germany if you can too, outside of the uk it's the only euro country that won't rape you on cost.

I've also looked at a few Yamaha's they seem to have a alot of power,
but unsure on the finer points, so to speak.
also we have kids, so power isnt really all that needed, I'm far more intrested in "clear sound".
but then again, being a bloke, I've ofcause know! that Power!1! is naturally velly importanto! ;)

I'm looking seriously at these two.

Onkyo HTS3305 Black | 5.1 Package System inc. Speakers excluding DVD player | Richer Sounds
£299.99

Onkyo HTS6305 Black | 5.1 Package System inc. Speakers exluding DVD player & iPod not included | Richer Sounds
£399.99

The 6305 has a larger active subwoofer as opposed to a passive one.
Both have DTS-HD (MA), Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD
6305 has an extra HDMI input and an extra coaxial input.
6305 has 100W RMS x 7 channels, 3305 has 85W x 5.
6305 also has the Audyssey system for automatically calibrating the speakers to the acoustics of your room.

3305 is "good enough", 6305 is "better".
I'm leaning towards the 6305 myself.

Id like to set up my new USB-vinyl player.. could set up through a laptop, but would to just have a set of speakers instead.. would i need a receiver or something? in a minimum setup, that im going to try to get from 2nd hand, what would i need?

Most new receivers have usb, so that shouldnt be a problem,
but if it's only for music, you might want to concider a good stereo receiver,
I'm confidant you can get a better one for the same amount of cash.
