PB can go where it wants, if Valve will not let the CS Team -the most succesful HL mod- access the HL source code, they will not let a 3rd party anti cheat program access it.

Especially since PB could be used for commercial gain.

If valve managed to stop a few hacks in 1.3 (they stopped viperg and most wallhacks) then they have an understanding of what to do.

Erik Johnson said in an interview Valve were commited to bringin out frequent pacthes to stop cheats, and IMO its only a matter of time before they introduce their own PB style system.

Valve may bring out patches that stop cheating but they are fucking stupid.

For instance, 1.3 was supposed to stop wallhacking, as in anybody wallhacking got overflow errors. Now people with ATi cards got the same problem. Valve released a fix for the ATi cards, which wasn't a proper fix, its a patch to disable the anti cheat measures, so if you wanna wallhack you d/l the ati fix even if you haven't got an ATi card, that makes sense doesn't it.

don't give a monkeys about Punkbuster they've never been accountable for creating bad code, thats Valve's problem and until they solve it the fight against cheating will always be a pointless one
