IMO they should give Friars another weapon spec ability... Staves are quite boring in the end.

Gifv Friars Drunken Boxing specline! And gloves should have DPS then!

So, really, your post has nothing to do with making DAoC more fun, but is about making Friars more fun, right ?

Just wondered... ;)

Wouldnt you be amused to see a Friar totally drunk and hitting you with fists? I think you would be.

And you could tell he was totally drunk how?

Might be funny once or twice, but it would get annoying quickly... a bit like you. But you weren't funny the first time, actually.. hmm! :m00:

Great idea, although I find the staff spec awesome.
Just like infiltrators have envenom, us friars could have intoxication as a spec. We'd go to the nearest alcohol merchant and buy different types. For example liquors, beers, wines and finally the big one... industrial alcohol!
A'la Legend of the Drunken Master!

Using any weapon all the way to lvl50 is boring tho?

Least my nukes look different with each patch :)

Hehe... nice...
I'd LOVE for there to be more variety in the look of staves. Maybe even slash and thrust versions. Slash could have blades on the ends, and there would different shaped bladed staves. For thrust you could have slightly perpendicular or completely perpendicular blades attached to the staff.
Crush could have new models too... such as metal balls or blocks etc. etc. etc. at the end of staves.

Reason for these could also be that I want more unique looks on characters, as many of my suggestions on the Prydwen/General Discussion thread about "changes you'd like to see" show.

Hmm

I find this quite amusing that the person opening this thread doesn't seem to be playing a friar :)

All I know is Friars specialise in staffs, that and enchanments are our class defining roles, a friar without a staff doesn't go. I think we actually have some of the best animations with out movement and most people I know comment on how good we look....

Why change something that doesn't need changing! There are also a number of different staffs to use, ask anyone who has been at the end of one if they should be changed!

So basically, you wanna turn us into monks?

To be honest, Friars are one of the most fun classes in the game (imo) along with skalds. Not to mention very versatile in terms of speccing: Our enhancement line is awesome (Tho only for ourselves, hehe), we are group friendly (Especially with a little points spent in rejuvnation), we solo well (I only have like 11 staff and 12 enh at level 24, and I still rock just about any yellow con mob, oranges if vuln to blunt).

And why go away from staff? It has some of the coolest styles in game aside from assassins :D

UPDATE

A Berserker should be able to: (when's he going berserk)

Pick up Dwarfs and toss them at are enemys,

Should shape-shift into a Firbolg (come on, nothing beats a firblogs at scareing)

Be able to use both his axes as a boomarang,

Should Ignore any form of CC that is cast on him,
(You see a rocket comeing at you, lets just mez it  )

Also, incase the axes don't come back from throwing, a Plank of Wood with a Nail in should be used to 2-handed slot, only to be used when Berserk!!

Shees you guys take this way too seriously... I thought it would be fun to see a class swinging from side to side with hick-up and hitting opponent with weird styles.

Nono! This is a good idea...let's also bring in a bearhide wearing guy who can summon animuls and use the elements to his aid...

oh oh! How about an assassin kind of type, with traps that go off when someone comes near and...

Oh yeah! How about a dungeon named Arcane Sanctuary?

I completely agree. Friars are very capable soloers... even at L42 any yellow rocot (which were orange last level) will go down no problem...
Even a FEW orange cons around will go down if I kick in with all buffs and recast timer buffs like haste etc...
The enhancement line does rock for ourselves as friars. I mean, with my enh spec that I hope to reach (47) I will have a THIRTY-EIGHT percent haste, 15% absorb buff, awesome end regen (even now with it turned on I NEVER run out of endurance even if I constantly use styles, as long as power is present), 23% (or was it 26? I think 23%) heat resist buff and also matter+cold resist buffs... sure htey might not be the MOST useful resists but anyway, I love them (L42 heat resist @ 36%).

About the looks of the friar, well we look quite awesome and many have said so too :D
