Sudden Death - Yes or No?

With the launch of the BWUTL sites I have been becoming more involved in the actual running of the leagues and thought it might be interesting to discuss some of the points of contention here to see what everyone else thinks.

First up is Sudden Death in CTF :-

Some of the most exciting games of CTF I have played have been resolved in Sudden Death overtime. The feeling of exhilaration was amazing so I was surprised to read that this feature was being disabled in the UT CTF league. Whilst the excitement and tension of Sudden Death goes without saying there is the other side of the argument. If a league game enters overtime would either team risk losing? A stalemate could easily emerge where each team would simply be reluctant to attack and the possibility of a game running indefinitely is a real possibility.

So is the solution to disable Sudden Death or should it be allowed but with a time limit (say 10 minutes max)? If there were a time limited period off Sudden Death might that encourage teams to play it safe or would the possibility of a win tempt teams to take a risk?

Personally I would like to see the inclusion of Sudden Death and I suppose that this would have to be time limited however I can see all sides, I just feel that the overtime period could spark some excellent matches. What matters is what you, the players, think so please add your thoughts here.

I like the idea of Sudden Death overtime, though it may cause problems with games that are scheduled to start after the overtime game. I think you would have to set a max time for overtime ( 5 mins ).

To make teams actually attack during this time we should learn a lesson from the football leagues. If we award 3 points for a win, and only 1 point for a draw, hopefully this will encourage people to actually capture the flag in the overtime, rather than camp in defence.

sounds like a good idea...but I think awarding more points for a win gained in sudden death overtime would be necessary, so it really encourages a bit of risk-taking

err could be wrong here but without writing a mutator for it is it possible to disable the sudden death shootout in UT?
