i subscribed the other day and i was just thinking about 2 people connecting to servers on the same IP. I have 2 PC's at home which connect through my cable modem so myself and bro will both have the same IP and we often polay games and stuff together.

Is that an issue?

Surely once one of you registers using a subscription via the browser or BarryLogon, then both of you should be able to play, as you are coming from the same IP.

The BarryLogon system simply verifies an IP against a username and determines the subscription status.

It was the whole '2 people joining on the same IP at the same time to the same server' issue.

COMPRENDE!£!?

nope, it's just the whole paying thing. 2 people can play but only 1 has paid.

like lending your copy of Quake3 or summat to someone else.

Installing a game onto another machine is illegal and breaks the terms and conditions that you "agreed" to when installing the game in the first place. You are naughty.

Oh and that BBC link is quite, quite irrelavent.

Actually, it's perfectly legal to lend things to other people, including software. Obviously there are very few people who's "lending" of pc games could be considered lending, however lending itself isn't illegal :)

I think you are allowed to install software you have not purchased but you have to remove it after 24 hours.

Its so you can evaluate the software to see if its right for you...

I maybe mistaken of course...

Yes, you are, that's totally illegal. Warez sites put it up for some reason.

They put it up, so that you're tecnically lending the software from them. If you're getting rid of it after a certain time frame, then tecnically it is a case of lending, which will cover them to some extent...

I assure you it's not allowed. If you want to 'lend' it, it's only illegal if you uninstall your version, and delete any copies

The point is, for home users if you have one copy of a piece of software, you can only install it once. Ever.

This differs from company installs however as they usually buy as many licenses as they need.
