Does anyone feel the same as me about the problems for return players to DAoC. Or even new players.

Leveling from Level 1-20 is the biggest pain in the arse. Mainlly due to the lack of other sub level 20 players. I wish they had never put in the /level 20 commands. Im sure this argument has being brought up before. But when I was leveling my new warrior from 1-20 it took near exactly 24hrs. But still it was the most boring dull experience in my life. Only now since Ive now got a Guild (<Venom>) and also being able to get groups now, the game is a hell of a lot better....

Levelling a warrior is boring enough anyway, certainly solo :p /Level should have been better thought out tbh but Mythic were never ones for careful thought.

there were always plenty on alb :) Mithra (lvl7+ dungeon) almost always crowded, then salis plains 2-3 grps,(12+) and keltoi.

But i hear some people finding it hard to do anyway.. since /level 20 there aren't much more then 1/2 group around. Perhaps if you ask nicely, some necro will take you some levels till near 20 :) or whatever version is used in midgard.

1-20 was learning your character.... and it was great fun then :)

it's a bit boring doing it all again though hence people /level or they powerlevel or just do lots of kill tasks..

I know some people that like the lowbie levels too much to use /level - not everyone is totally focused on the RvR or raid end game at 50...

Levels 1-20 are still meant to be the training for new classes.

1-5: Learn the basics. Such as DON'T attack a purple mob on your own.

5-10: Learn your class. Such as DON'T PULL a purple mob.

10-15: Learn the art of little groups and the speacil strengths of your chosen line(1-4). Such as DON'T PULL a purple mob in a group.

15-20: Learn the finer points of your class/specline and the bigger group mechanics. Such as DON'T PULL purple mobs that ADD in a group.

Also: learn that yes, in a group you can kill mobs that con higher than yellow. Learn that whilst you may not be able to solo purples, other classes can :D Learn that if you pull anything other than baf'ing purples at high levels when in a full group you'll level slower than a snail smoking pot.

new method of levelling:

1-40: learn how to sit

40-50: learn how to get AC groups without having the slightest idea what the hell these crazy buttons all do anyway... heal? guard? style? pah!

I recently starting playing again with the Wife and we never had problems with groups. Plenty of people in the Isle of Glass, Mithra and on the plains. The /level command has made a big difference but there is still life under 20 :).

I used to enjoy Mithra , have fond memories of the guard room.
Salisbury plains was okish but got a bit tedious after the 19th Salisbury Giant wipeout :p
Used to be 2-3 groups going all the time then and ive only been playing just over a year.

Most classes dont get there full compliment of basic skills till lvl 20, and the majority of spec lines till mid 20's. Following on from that most classes dont even reach anywhere near there full potential or play style untill the 40's.

The introducting of /level was not well thought out at all.. For returning players as my self with a clean account it has being hard and terrible to make it to the 20 hold. Thankfully old friends such as Tasaroca (mid/pry) has helped me through with kit and buffing me :) Bless Them!

But I think they should take /level out "totally" else introduction to new players wont be that good...

i recently restarted, no 1-20 isnt hard.. especialyl if your class has some form of speed, but the problem is its so mind numbingly boring.. i found myself logging on, doing 3/4 bubbles and being so bored i couldnt do it anymore. this was unbuffed so DT aswel. pre /lvl there were enough groups to get by, sure they were slow lvling.. but id rather lvl slowly and have ppl to chat to than do it faster by myself.

This may sound really dumb - I havent reached 50 and it would be hard since i cant register yet :( - but if you go straight to level 20 what kind of weapons and armour do u get? I mean to u just have 0 money 0 armour 0 weapons but 20 levels?

If you /level 20 theres 2 npc's in each major city Camelot/Tir-nog/Jordheim who will issue you with 70% qual lvl 20 armour and weapons or level 30 armour/weapons if you have the /level 30 enabled on your server.

they should of enable EXP bonues for people with level 50s, so all exp earned is x2, this would mean leveling up after you have a L50 is easyer. The EXP bonues should also apply to the group you are in, so a new player will also get the x2 EXP if grouped with low level ALT.

having had to start from level 1 with no outside assistance at all recently i can say its pretty depressing...

reminded me of how the game originally was: struggling to keep you armour yellow and just getting enough money to pay for horses was tough.

its a bit silly how once you hit 25+ and can exp for emerald seals in DF you suddenly have decent armour and more money then you need after struggling so hard for the early levels.

its not well thought out at all.

for Albion, sorcerers, Mincers and Thurgys (ie speed classes) can do Kill tasks very quickly. I leveled my full mind sorcerer doing kill task along with BOF movs at slavers cams for a while. Then movied to SI for 15-20 which was very fast near Annigo (um can't remeber name of village).

I've got a level 50 (necro, duh!) and have never used the /level command. Not saying I am a saint/boy scout, but like someone said, 1-20 is learning the character. If I was to create, say, another Necromancer, I would /level it because I KNOW what they do...

I also don't mind helping newbies out by grouping with them. It's not always easy getting a group, and when someone says "I'm new to the game" some of the more experienced people seem to leg it (not everyone, just a few). We want/need new people to join the forces, so might as well make them feel welcome!

Well the first 1 - 20 is hard as hell, the second alot easier and the third simple. I could usually make a BG level alt in 1 day /play time before we got /level I didn't have to bother. Ofc support classes are alot harder. Chaining greens is no-ones idea of fun ;)

Level 1-20 in the end is better doing kill tasks even if your not a speed class.

If you do /level to 20 then most people transfer cash to their alt or already have precrafted items to give to their char.

If you removed level 20 from the game people would either level with a friend who they know can play well, do kill tasks, not level at all or as is the norm now take a leech with a pbaoe level 50 char to a high level group.

In the end the scenario will be the same as even with level 20 command people start level 1 chars (for the extra spec points) then have them powerlevelled in high groups. And its not that hard either you could be a healer a pbaoe'r a end gen char or mana gen char at level 50 to get into a leech group.

With level 20 high players play in the bgs and mix with others without it they wouldnt.

why Mythic don't halve the xp taken to get to 50 is beyond me

It's not like you wont be doing anymore PvE - artifacts, ML raids, etc
